Hi Guys,

I just wanted to share a picture of the very earliest stages of my Ood head sculpture These are Aliens that make a dramatic impact in the new series of Dr Who, with their glowing red eyes. Its taken me a day or so to get this far but theres still quite a lot to do on it especially around the mouth area.

Wow, that's seriously impressive. :D

Are you going to have the eyes light up?

and for anyone that hasn't seen it. The episode entitled "The Satan Pit" has the single BEST ever representation of the devil that I've EVER seen on film or TV

You did that in JUST ONE FREAKING DAY ????? :eek :eek :eek Great work ...

Ok - I must really know now - What is the material you're working in ???
Brand-name / where to buy (URL) / how much / ... I need to try that stuff

Thanks guys...

The clay I'm using is the same as with my Yoda project... water based clay. Only thing is, it has to be at the right consistency to work fast in (not to wet, not to dry). However, knowing me, I'll be spending most of my time fine tuning it LOL

I've sculpted the head over a fibre glass life cast :)

Cheers

Thanks Cyb, what is the brand name of that water based clay and were could i order it online ???
I'd really love to try working with this stuff ... :)

Go to a website called www.tiranti.co.uk

Search for clays and the stuff I use is Terracotta modelling clay... Its description goes as follows:

"Prepared Clay selected for its excellent modelling properties. Also good for pottery. Supplied ready to use, in stout polythene bags. A basic terracotta modelling clay, very plastic and excellent for modelling."

Cheers

Oods near completed... Have a deadline of 11th November because theres a Dr Who convention where I have to supply 7 masks for a big stunt to be held at the opening :confused I'm feeling the pressure....

Well, I managed a couple more days on the head.. still not totally satisfied with it until the skin texturing gets laid down properly but I recon the proportions are more or less there.

I'm on schedule to get it finished in time for the Hyde Fundraisers events of later on this month ;)

Here we are done n dusted and in the nick of time to.. Gotta mould it this weekend so I can have a few masks ready for the event coming up shortly :D

Its not perfect but the deadline meant I couldn't match up all the details to the Screen version. Also It doesn't extend over the shoulders like the MFX version. But hey it looks like an Ood which is the important thing and I managed to stamp my own personal touches on it.

You're putting the "Ooo." in Ood there Cyberman, no doubt about it.

Very very g-ood work indeed :)

**Edit

p.s You ever thought about sculpting a Ree-Yees head? (if you haven't thought of it, would you?? I'd love one of those).
