1:1 Millennium Falcon Cockpit Replica - Group Build

Hey Jim,

Thanks for checking out the thread and channel! .................................... I hope that made sense? :)
Hi, yes that made sense and thanks for the reply. Hey quick question (again)... did you ever encounter any issues with copyright when taking your cockpit around all the conventions? Did you have to work around that or does not one mind, imitation being the sincerest form of flattery, and all that... The reason I ask is ultimately that's possibly what I'll do with mine here in Australia, although to a much lesser extent of course.

Cheers,
Jim

Hey J,

I'll send you a PM

Happy New Year!!!

I hope everybody had a safe and Merry Christmas and even better New Year! So long 2020! Let's be sure to make 2021 awesome!

Things have been crazy this past month! Between all the fun going on at the shop and the drama and excitement of the holidays I'm amazed I even made to the new year.

2021 is starting out AWESOME... I just got a new tool for the shop (video coming soon)! It's going to be AMAZING! Also, work continues on both the YT-300 AND the full scale cockpit! I just posted another Junkie Quick Fix and I hope you all take the time to check it out!

Happy New Year, Everybody! :)

Happy 2021 SK!!!

The YT-300 homebrew is theee most Star Wars non-Star-Wars Star Wars build I've seen since Star Wars OT!!! It IS a Star Wars!!! You have cracked the formula!!! Brilliant!!!

Of course you know why I like it....? It's like it could have been made by Sperry's Space Division - a long time ago....

Now what's this I read about some kind of full scale Falcon thingamebob? I'll put the kettle on.

Hi Gang,

Lots to report these days! Not only is the full scale cockpit back home and work to get back up to speed moving forward, the YT-300 is still coming along and I am getting close to finishing that project but the most recent news is... I got a new toy!

This little tool is called a ShopBot - or CNC! We had to take the CNC apart to get it to the shop where it still sits in pieces but hey... it's a new tool and I am really excited to see her up and running! Can anybody say "Cockpit V2"!

How it sits now... very sad!

Also, the YT-300 is still coming along. It's been really cold these past few weeks so a lot of forward progress was slowed... Lots of greeblies and weathering being done to the exterior. It's been a LOT of fun so far!

More down below!

And finally... a few vids for your viewing pleasure!

One video shows the never ending weathering of the YT-300 exterior. But it really is a lot of fun!

And the other is... well... a full scale tease! ; )

WHEW... I hope I didn't bore anybody!

Lot's more to follow! Hopefully life will calm down enough where I can get back to our regular routine!

Great to see some of your epic posts again here. I've been watching your weathering videos and am very impressed. Were you a model builder/painter before these Falcon projects came along? I can't wait until you're greebling and painting the full scale hull. :)

If I'm ever bored by watching a video of the full scale falcon, there's something wrong with the universe

Great update Greg(y)(y):cool::notworthy::notworthy:...that YT-300 is certainly greeblies heaven! I usually take a thin piece of plastic to do the small oblong black marks and trace them with a thin felt marker (neater). Also, on the dark grey part of the model, I would probably do some pieces/panels in another color (off white) to "lighten" those parts. Same with the white parts...rust colored panels maybe (that's just my two cents ;))

Hey LtW,

Thanks! I am TRYING to get back to the regular schedule I had for years but life, this past year, has been kicking me in the butt! I know... no excuses!

Glad you're enjoying the vids. I wish I had more time! I should be done with the project by now - LOL! I did some model building when I was a kid but nothing serious. YouTube showcases some great talent like PLASMO, so I just learn from all those guys.

I am working very hard to get back to the full scale but I really want to finish up the YT-300 and even the 1/4 scale cockpit. If I don't add any illumination I can probably knock them out in a fair amount of time but that wouldn't be prudent... at this juncture. ; )

Thanks so much, J! You always kind words to say. OOOOOO... I like the idea of adding some off color panels. There's DEF enough space for them. lol
