Not necessary. I'll use the existing mounting points. It appears to be MUCH deeper than my current attempt. I really want to replicate all the different layers and details.

Masked off one side of the door to finish the touch ups - tonight I'll flip the door over and finish the other side
I then painted all the different bolt heads to match the different greeblies they would be attaching
Let bolt these greeblies into place!
Bolted the pots into place
Let's stand back and take a look...

Thanks! Still have to touch up the other side and I'm now designing some smaller greeblies to fit in the backside access panel. It might reflect the same design... we'll see.
After the door... the door frame! Gotta put it some place.

The large bolt is actually on the door frame itself. And you bet I will! I love that extra added design. I have a feeling they were plugs cut to hide the bolts keeping the frame bolted to the back wall.
I bet they used some kind of lid... perhaps a spray can of some sort.
Could be anything. Maybe laser cut acrylic, MDF or even a dowel. The frame appears to be about 1.5 - 2" wide and the round covers are almost the same width. I would also guess them to be about .5" thick. What I can't tell is whether the round cover is parallel with the frame or if they simply go straight up and down?
I think they go straight up and down... would make more sense for stability to seal the opening. I've always thought that in case of emergency the whole cockpit section can separate from the rest of the ship and fly around like a small fighter (would explain the gun under the nose). If that's the case the door would have to be able to be sealed air tight every time it closes. The only way that can be done is if those "bolts" extend out to hold it to the bulkhead... and if so they would most probably be connected to a single rod that pushes them all straight out like on a submarine or bank vault door.
Looking at the one cover just right of the back of the console I think you're correct - they appear to go up and down and NOT parallel with the frame.

SK,
from my reckoning of the official cockpit blueprint, each frame on either side of the door is 1.25" thick , with the round objects being 1" in diameter. I know your door is thicker to accommodate the electronics, but FWIW, the B/P door comes out to be 1.5" thick.
