Back Lights. These will ALL be replaced with LEDs and then an outer skin - to be weathered and greeblified just like the Quad Base!

WHEW... GMX has come and gone and we're still flying high! The black paint and greeblies has completely transformed the cockpit!

What's next? The short/main list: LEDs (3200), outer skin, new canopy and front window, and a new lightweight modular platform. All this to be done before the biggest show so far - Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim, CA... 75,000+ attendees! I hope we make it!

Stay Tuned! :)

Hi Gang,

A HUGE THANK YOU for all the positive and supportive comments! You guys/gals are the best! And another HUGE Thank You to the entire team: Jessie, Daniel, Jake and Scott!

We're going to take a few days to unwind and reboot but then it's back to work - we have the biggest deadline looming over our heads - 5 months is NOT a lot of time to prep for Celebration!

Thank you again!

Amazing SK, Just WOW, you and your crew have done such a beautiful job. I still have to get you two more Volvo panels, I have not forgotten. ;)

Thanks! Couldn't have made those nose panels without you! I managed to salvage the broken panels with a heat gun. They're not perfect but they def passed the test - nobody noticed! ;)

So what's next on the list?

Hey Y,

What's next? Well... the short list is:

1) New metal modular platform
2) Connect all 3000+ LEDs
3) Outer Skin - to include back wall
4) New canopy - to include greeblies
5) New Center Console

All this within 5 months in preparation for SW Celebration? WHEW... We'll see... :)

Hi Gang,

What a DAY at GMX! I'm still catching my breath! We had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Greg Grunberg from the TV Show Heroes. Many of you may already know that he also has a part in Star Wars Episode VII!!!! Fresh of the sets in England, he passed by the cockpit and spent some time with us - IT WAS AMAZING!
Although he could give us ZERO details of Episode VII, and despite our repeated attempts ;), he told us how awesome it was just to be part of that entire experience! The best part came when he complimented of all our hard work. He was very kind and generous with his words!!!! He took several pics and told us he was sending them to JJA! How cool is that! !

I told You at last this could have eventually happened!!:D

Regards,

Alberto

Obviously your current console has a bunch of signatures on it, but beyond that, could you recap what the differences will be between the V1 console and the V2 console?

Thanks for that panoramic shot, it really helps show just how faithful this recreation is! You even have the sliders set to match.

Absolutely great work. Congratulations to the whole team!

Hey M,

Everything will look virtually the same with the addition a few more screen accurate ESB upgrades. The biggest and most important change is the new V2 console will be cut using the CNC and laser cutter - every hole will be precut, every piece will be even, every line clean and straight and each panel will simply slide together like a giant puzzle - no more guessing.

Once finished, the V2 console will take V1's place in the cockpit. V1 will be a stand alone prop that sits off to the side - still fully lit with sounds (just like it was at TEDx earlier this year). We'll continue to place signatures on V1 while V2 will complete the look of the cockpit without the distractions of the signatures.

We're also planning a "kiddie" console where little kids get to sit - we might not have that ready for Celebration, but a kiddie console is definately in the works.

Hope this makes sense... :)

It was an awesome experience! Now, with your new found powers... what are the lottery numbers? ;)

Hi R,

Thanks so much! I think we were able to not only pull off the impossible, but I think we're creating something really special. I am so excited. I can't express my thanks and appreciation to the entire team enough - Jessie, Daniel, Jake, Scott and Philip really worked their collective "rears" off those last final weeks!

Funny thing... the sliders were finished 2 days before the show. We need to remove them and finish them up - primer, paint, etc... and then add the little black dot - that was all that was missing.

Thanks again for the kind words. Stay tuned - there is SO MUCH more coming!

Hey everybody,

First off, once again, great job on the GMX work, SK and your team.

The animated quad took a few more steps towards visible progress over the last month. It is definitely interesting learning new skills on this project. Before this I had never made molds. Now...

Base of the Barrel tip. Still haven't come up with a good label for this piece

And I certainly hadn't cast anything. But now

A full set of muzzle pieces, ready for cleanup

and

four of the bases

Then it was back to the familiar- welding and tinkering. After fixing my previous tape measure problem (made the yoke 4" too wide- took measurements at 3 am, oops),

I'll get more pics up soon
