1:1 Millennium Falcon Cockpit Replica - Group Build

Calling Harrison Ford:eek Wow, the amount of work is staggering! You don't know how eager I am to see it put back together:)

How are you doing the small semicircular pinstripes?

Hi M,

I created/saved a template back when I first pin striped the panels. I simply pencil sketch on a larger piece of pin stripe material that comes with the pack and simply cut using scissors. It's not the most accurate but I'm hoping that with all the blinking lights people wont notice the imperfections.

Beau-ti-ful

man... this is still the best thing since bread

DANG! Thank you!

Hey J,

Thanks so much! I'm getting there too! I really want to see her all back together with the new paint scheme!

Most excellent !!

Much Thanks! :)

Yep, greeblies overdose for me!! That panel is looking mighty fine by me:cool

Thank you, my friend! I'm still not sure what to do about the empty space...

Looks like two new boards placed over what was there before. In the 'black and white' photo you can see the edges of the boards on the nearest side, the boards separated where the three small white stripes are. I guess this is due to the weight of the greeblies.

In photobucket do a 'right click - view image' for the bigger pic.

edit: Maybe even three boards, with the rockers being on their own strip.

I completely forgot about that pic! OH LOOK - pretty lights! :) Now I get to tell the lighting guys the bad news...

Every time I scroll through this thread for updates I am amazed. Excellent work!

Hi B,

Thanks much! As much as I am doing this for myself, I am doing this more so for all of you guys/gals! I'm hoping everybody gets a chance to see and touch what we've done so far. :)

Old set photo I thought you might not have seen.

Oh, that is a great pic. From the stagehand perspective, I love seeing how the set could come apart for filming. Also gives a good look at the canopy structure

Wow — that's a great photo from Empire, thanks for posting. Based on the actors expressions/actions, it looks like it might have been snapped during an actual take.

As for this thread, I'll join the chorus and say I'm blown away by the attention to detail you all have put into this build. I look forward to every update, very inspiring.

There's some non-costumed person right in front of the door, right behind Billy Dee Williams. Pyro guy baby-sitting a squib during a rehearsal maybe?

Nice catch, Operascot, I didn't notice that before. That's such a great, intimate scene in the movie, the hero's crammed into the cockpit trying to get away. It's always interesting to see the reality of how they shoot these scenes.

Hi Gang,

SUPER MEGA UPDATE!!!! I've spent the last four days knocking out the remaining panels and getting them pin striped! I have 1 more panel to go - but I am holding off doing the "slider" / vertical gauge panel behind Chewie. The team is going to knock around a few ideas.

Horrible pic - I spent a few minutes knocking off and removing ALL the greeblies, tiles and pin stripes from the remaining panels

All the panels got a good sanding and filler was added

This was odd... I sprayed a light coat of satin clear on the lower panels and the crackle finish appeared. When it dried... it was gone! HUH? Who knew?

Let the fun begin! I actually made a HUGE mistake on this panel. I pin striped using the design from Chewie's side... I removed everything and started over... UGH...

The slider panel getting a quick layer of paint. I'm holding off adding pin stripes because we're also adding the backlit vertical gauges - this will more than likely be the most complex of all the panels

Satin applied - LOVE IT! The pin stripe design on the ESB nose panel were not as complex as the original ANH version. But they also added a LOT of greeblies for the ESB version.
