1:1 Millennium Falcon Cockpit Replica - Group Build

How about the yokes? There's a museum nearby me where the vickers aviation company was based they've several viscounts and a bucket load of parts :)

WHOA! Really? First - LUCKY!!! lol Second, I've been fabricating the yokes from a Piper aircraft. They are far from screen accurate but it's been fun either way. If you're able to sneak by and see if they have any of the yokes - that would be fantastic!

Some of the clips show the gun; but when you watch the movie, they fire and have a "kickback" like the quad guns.

I have watched this movie a billion times... I have never seen what you're talking about. I'm definitely going to check this out tonight! :)

I had a friend of mine upload the clip to her YouTube account. It's not great quality since it was done from my phone. :(

I hope you know, I'm not trying to bust your balls about this or anything...fact is, I'm coming to you because this has been bugging me for years and I consider you the foremost MF cockpit authority! :)

I thing you just see the muzzle flash. Or can you see the barrels too? Either way, it implies there is a cannon on the roof of the cockpit...

Can you put a red circle around or outline the cockpit gun?

Honestly, it will probably be easier when you watch the movie; you'll see Han presumably reach for a switch/lever, and the visible barrels will fire with that traditional cannon kickback.

The funny part about it is that it's kind of a throwaway moment, the firing on the TIE; and yet they specifically made a point to construct a cannon there. But it's seemingly never referenced (or shown) anywhere else in the movies, or in any technical literature that I can find on the Falcon.

EDIT: Holy crap, I think I'm totally wrong. I think the "motion" on the "guns" is the light shifting on a hanging silhouetted piece inside the cockpit, which would make the blasts from the TIE. So maybe he's reaching up to hit a switch to turn the alarm off?

For 30+ years I've interpreted that scene wrong, and now I've gone public with it!! My apologies to all!! :D

Hi Gang,

Well... another frustrating night at the lab... Although we were able to CNC 3 more sets of ejection seat "Hockey Sticks"... the cut setting on the CNC was wrong and the dimensions are now wrong. Although they are off by 1/4" it caused us to stop for the evening and figure out what the heck happened... I know we can salvage the pieces but it was VERY frustrating.

I'm taking the next few days off to regroup and remember why the heck I'm doing this! ;)

Hey Key,

In ESB, just as our heros enter the asteroid field, Han reaches up and flips a switch / pulls a lever in the exact same place. My guess... it's the same motion. Also, we have several behind the scene pics of those (what I refer to as) "canopy boxes". There a approx 4 levers and several greeblies. This might have been what was causing the confusion. Here's a pic of those exact boxes / levers

So it looks like they're attached to the cockpit wall, not the console. Or am I seeing that wrong?

Hi Y,

As it stands, there are no clear images of how or where those seats were mounted. The only thing we have is the motion of the seat as it swivels and pivots away from the console. My guess is they are attached to the console / cockpit platform(s). I don't think the wooden side walls would have been strong enough to support the seat and Harrison Ford. There are a few scenes where you see him plop down into the seat - again, my guess, the seat mount had to be a steel arm welded to a very sturdy and hefty floor mount.

Also, having looked at that area over and over and over... it wouldn't surprise me if Harrison Ford had to practice getting in and out of the chair before filming. It's a VERY tight fit between the chair and the console.

Hope that made sense?

Sorry events have taken a turn towards the frustrating. When you look back over the incredible amount of road you've covered this should be no more than a pothole.

Go enjoy the Spring weather before it turns hot on you (again) ;)

Dude, don't worry about it! It's only a net forum, nobody gets hurt here. At least, as long as they're not wearing stormtrooper armor. Or a red shirt. If either of those is the case, I'm backing away. :p

200 pages! I hope you reserved something special for that occasion :D

Hi A,

Believe it or not... We're scrambling to get ready for a small local show this Saturday. I have been SO preoccupied with the nav seats and everything else, it had completely slipped my mind. UGH... So, the next two nights will be another mad dash. We'll be putting the standalone and the quad on display. I have a few things I need to do to prep the console platform... So let's hope Page 200 is a good one!

I've just had a similar occurrence with a switch from the ESB pit, obviously my interpretation was more appropriate ...but it's not right lol.

I just realized earlier this year the interrogation droid from ANH was a R2 dome... I even saw the dang thing on display and never noticed it... ;)
