1:1 Millennium Falcon Cockpit Replica - Group Build

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Recognise :) I guess the Falcon was sort of painted in BBC grey lol.

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Almost done... Remember... I have to create this EXACT same panel again... UGH... :)

That's a lot of pinstriping for one panel...

I have to walk away from time to time... The pinstriping is awesome but its tough on the shoulders and back! lol It sux getting old...

Taking a break from this panel...

Another getting the treatment

When drilling the holes, I made a slight measurement error on this panel but I'll make up for it with the pinstriping.

More to come!

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

I know Chris through a mutual friend. Have hung out with him a few times. Great guy. Great R2! LOL!

One day we will meet. And I will tell you how much I both love and hate you for what you are accomplishing here!

Seriously though. I went from skeptical to full blown in awe of what you are doing.

Keeo it up man! :)

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Is that correct?

That's one - good eye! The spacing between the lower series of LED holes (in the blue boxes) and the single line of LEDs stretching across the panel is an inch too low - notice the "thin" gap between the blue and white pinstripe lines. I think it turned out ok. I also added some elements from the ESB version to make up for the "happy accident"

These are terrible pics - I'll get some new ones in a few

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Greeblie fun...

Not sure why I'm getting such blurry pics... I'll see if I can fix it. Enjoy for now! :)

Hi OldKen,

Thank you for the very kind words... To be honest... I didn't think I could pull it off either. :) I'm my worst critic!!! There are several aspects of the build I genuinely dislike! And every now and then I get really frustrated and swear I'll never touch the dang thing again... and then I say "yeah right!".

It was a LONG day of pinstriping. Tomorrow I have several other projects I have to get to... I'm hoping I can make short of those projects.

I think it would be great all of us could get together one day and talk shop! :)

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Hi Gang,

I did a quick lighting test - both LEDs and backlighting (I get a little excited LOL). SpikeTV is running a SW marathon and I've been looking at the white and blue square button lights both in the cockpit and the nav computer in the MF and ALL over the SW sets.

It would appear that the designers cut a round hole in the panel, glued transparent blue and white glass/plastic tiles directly over the hole and then backlit the panel to get the "glowing" button effect.

Although I'm NOT that far... I wanted to see what the panel looked like with LEDs

Enjoy :)

I have NO idea what's going on with my camera. I can't get ANY good shots lately

LEDs only

Once ALL the toggles are in place I will have painted the base of the toggle silver. This will help make it pop against the dark / light panel colors.

That's it for this evening!
