Thanks guys! I have a LONG vacation ahead of me and I'm hoping to have most of it finished (wishful thinking I know).

The panel I'm working is right behind Chewie (the one with the slider knobs). I'm debating whether to just make the slots or wait and see if we find some used ones. What do you guys think?

If you can measure the space available on the panels when they're done then take it from there. It may be possible to order just the edge connector housing without the metal parts. I found a company here that has taken over production of another once popular brand, Viking, and as they make these on site it might be cheaper and time saving to see what they can do. They have a 170pin version which should measure over 8" in one piece, or they can make to measure. Just a thought for now. I'll send them an email when the sizes are in.

There are 24 edge connectors on the panel that are approx 7.5 inches in length (I'm working from Starkiller's 3D model so they might longer/shorter).

I'm thinking between 7-8 in would be perfect! Let me know what you find!

Hi Gang,

Got started early this morning. Since the two top panels are all but finished (minus LEDs and greeblies) I need to get them mounted - which proved more frustrating than anything else... I turned the images upside down to get a better look at the panels

I couldn't quite fit the drill into place so I had to drill hole at an angle.

They are spot on, the profile looks to be the right depth too. Even if you can grab one, as mentioned earlier, it could be cast to size. Great find!

I'm chatting with the guy now who thinks he has more than 24. At 2-3 bucks a piece its a no brainer just to go ahead and order them as opposed to making molds.

Eeeexcellent! The Viking make also fits the old military aspect so that's a hit I do believe I still can't get a fix on the actual size of the screen used parts so maybe buy extra that can be cut in under the switches. Great stuff there man!!

With the rain REALLY coming down I decided to jump in and try to get some of the LED work out of the way. So far... only one bulb cracked...

Wires and toggles in place

Its a very slow process. But I now know what to do for the next cockpit

but just to let you know, I'm starting on your rocker switches day after boxing day. I have the templates printed out, and the plastic sheet, silicone and resin is standing by :thumbsup

Do you want embedded LEDs in some of them?

What a great project for a great bunch of lots! The Little Princess Leia is wonderful! And those troopers look pretty menacing!!

Believe it or not I'm given a try at mold making but PLEASE do not let that stop you from making them. Move forward as planned! I have a feeling I'm going to need plenty of practice before I'm successful!

Hi Gang...

As I mentioned above, I'm going to give a try at mold making... Step 1 Below

Created the "box" for the mold to sit

Added putty (per instruction) to keep the silicone from leaking out

That's where I am now. I have to let everything dry. Also... I created these "wedges" to help attach the top panels. When I originally created those two I failed to cut the angles - I didn't have the table saw and I had already pin striped both... Didn't really feel like starting over - it will work.
