1:1 Millennium Falcon Cockpit Replica - Group Build

Hi Gang,

It was a long weekend of moving, cleaning and configuring the laser cutter. Kudos to Daniel for going through the config files and getting the great beast to finally work with the new controller. We still don't have a dedicated PC but at least the hard part is over!

We spent several hours Friday night cleaning her up from what seemed like years of build up

There's not much to her... the inside is nearly empty

Saturday morning we loaded her up. Scott's friend, Richard, was nice enough to loan his box van with lift - no heavy lifting for this group!

Now sitting at the warehouse...

We then took some time to create the ventilation system

After all that I was able to get some more sanding and filling in on the shelves

And of course the 1/4 scale... added more primer to the back wall

Then sanded and sprayed several more layers of color

Not the most exciting update but at least the LC is moved, working and is now much closer to home! Thanks to everybody who helped out this weekend! :)

More interesting stuff to follow!

hi guys, checking out the Star Wars Archaeology panel video, from SWCE 2016, I came to this part: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUafi3EWBY8#t=14m48s, where John Knoll shows some of the origins for the Falcon's external detail, I inmediately thought of all of you! maybe you have seen it, maybe you have the entire diagram, but I thought I would put in 1 cent for the cause. Enjoy!!

Hey B,

Thanks for the great link! I've been trying my best to catch up on this years SWC vids... so much goodness to take in! :)

Steve Starkiller has a working 3D model and several 100 images of the original 5 footer. He's slowly putting this HUGE puzzle together!

Amazing work! You know have a very professional (and thankfully close) workshop - I mean... errr.... "Movie Studio" at this point. Can't wait to see the Beast in action!

Hey FM,

Thanks so much! It is nice having everything within arms length now! All we need is a working PC and we're good to go! Speaking of "Movie Studio", we're helping out some fellow SW fans with their upcoming Fan Film - more on that later!

The shelves are almost finished so body panels are on their way and she'll begin to look like a proper cockpit again!

Hi Gang,

A quick morning update! A new greeblie arrived - thanks to fellow RPFer and FSF member Wavey finding this little guy for us!

It's an RPM Generator and sits on the outside of the cockpit on Chewie's side.

All the chrome parts have to come off and be repainted/weathered to match

Panels Panels Everywhere...

The temps are sitting in the high 90s to low 100s all week... I've been here almost 15 years and I still can't used to it! ;)

More to Follow!

Amazing work, are you eventually going to weather everything or are you going for the "showroom condition" Yt-1300? If you need any parts over the pond in the UK but cant get them sent let me know and I may be able to help.

Thanks, D! I'm DEF going to give the greeblies a slight weathering but I'm REALLY hesitant to weather the actual panels. From what we can tell, the panels weren't weathered in ESB unlike the panels in TFA. The ESB cockpit panels appear to be very clean unlike the rest of the ship. :)

Any more eyes we can get to locate and identify parts would be greatly appreciated! A majority of the parts seem to hover on your side of the pond so again... keep those eyes open!

Oh yes indeed. Getting into serious greeblie territory there. I guess it's for determining the MF's speed, so makes sense as to what and where it's located.

Hey Sofa,

Interesting to see they've managed to shoehorn the interior into the exterior, I wonder how it matches up with Steve's version?
