1:1 Millennium Falcon Cockpit Replica - Group Build

Wow. Continuing to amaze! Nice work, y'all.

Now, seriously, how are you getting out of the garage? Are you going to have to disassemble it for transport, then reassemble it when you get where you're going?

Hey B,

The panels all come apart for easy transport and reassembly. The only challenge will be the lower nose frame. That HAS to be transported as one piece. We have NO IDEA how heavy it is yet. But we'll figure it out. :)

Hey Falconking,
looks fantastic and I hope we are invited out a flight when he's done:D

Hey YWing,

Thanks so much! Everybody is welcome to check it out and enjoy the maiden flight!

Think you'll have the main windows done in time??

Hey L,

Unfortunately, the canopy was one of those things we crossed off the list to get done before the premiere. We ran into a few issues and it just made sense to come back to the canopy after the premiere weekend. The first thing on the list to readdress in the Volvo panels. After that, we'll tackle the canopy and of course everything else we've pushed aside.

You mean to tell me those seats you got weren't the right size? That sucks! Oh... BTW... Did Optimus show up?

Wrong size. I can only assume they were/are the Junior sized seats. UGH...

He never showed. Leader-1 from the Go-Bots stopped by but Hasbro called saying he was longer available for public appearances...

I guess after he found out that there are more then ONE Optimus Primes (ref Toys-R-Us commercial) he kinda had a melt down... typical! :) LOL

The next few days are going to be chaotic at best. Daniel is CNCing the door pads, Pam is working the seat covers, wiring continues, I still have paint, stain and more building to take care of... Not sure how many photos I'll be taking but rest assured...

Stay Tuned!

Sofaking01 glad to see you are moving along. :) How trucks (trips back and forth) did it take to get all of the parts to the setup?

Hey Iz,

Things are DEF moving forward. Still lots to do but I think we'll be able to take a few shortcuts before the premiere. Then after this weekend, we can go back and address the finer details.

Once again the team has really stepped up and brought their A game. We filled 5 cars and a trailer and ha've been transporting different parts over the last few days. We'll do that again this evening and tomorrow. I'm hoping to get most of it tonight but that all depends on me and how quickly I can paint and stain.

Tomorrow night is setup... late into the evening

Looking like you're gonna be a busy busy man for the next week or so... you just gonna go ahead and use those seats for now because I would rather be able to sit behind the cockpit in bad seats then no seats at all! :)

It's going to be crazy! I'll be able to finally relax Monday morning...

The seats are just too small for any regular sized person to sit. So there wont be anybody sitting in the cockpit at all for a few weeks. We've decided to go ahead and cover the new seats and then resell them as office chairs after the premiere. We're going to go back and cover the old JEGS racing seats to match the originals.

So if anybody is interested in new office chairs after their big debut... Let me know! :)

Are these not the seats you are looking for?

Great job on the build guys. WOW... Some real talent there.

Hi N,

Thanks so much! :)

I believe the seats in the image are Porsche 911 / Carerra seats? Very close! The original seats, we believe, were Hunt Master racing seats. The seats I purchased appear to be a "junior" version of the larger seats originally used.

OK, I believe I read somewhere that they where 1972 Porsche 911 seats but that isn't confirmed. I can't find an image of a Hunt Master racing seat so I can't compare. I am sure you have already but I will do some searching and see what I can see. Where are the guys who built this stuff originally? They can't all be dead? Or maybe GL had them all offed to keep his secrets. :behave

I think GL had most of the original designers encased in... well... you know. ;)

We've been fortunate to chat with a few of the designers but not at any great length. I would love to pick their brains and listen to stories they have to tell.

Yanno Greg... you'll probably end up getting the seats alot sooner if you just made them the way they are suppose to be made rather then hope and pray that you find the exact seats they used which are probably close to impossible to find anymore!

I don't think there's a big enough 3D printer to do that....;)

He's got the laser cutter! I think it'll handle the big stuff... just as long as he doesn't get it tangled and rip a hole in the space time continuum again! He doesn't realize how hard it is to repair those things. Gotta have enough thread, and it can't just be any ol thread you get from Walmart... NO... it's that extra special black market thread that is created using the pulp from the endangered juju trees. They are getting harder and harder to find since they cut them down and sell them as virility boosters in China! I swear... they'll take anything to enhance their mojo over there!
