Hi Gang,
The past few days have been insane! 15-18 hour days for many of us. Unfortunately, the laser cutter isn't working and the CNC was down for a few days once again pushing our schedule back even further. Because of the craziness I didn't take as many photos as I would have liked. But... we've still been able to get a LOT done. Enjoy!
The old console wiring has been updated and repaired
I worked on the new canopy beams - turning this pile of confusion into....
This...
And this
And these
And finally these
As many of you know we picked up a wooden shift handle very similar to the original "El Toro" Shift Handles used on the yokes. Daniel is actually molding a new one. Once dried it will be sanded down to match the original size and shape then we'll make several molds
Before the laser cutter went belly up we designed and laser cut these LED housings for the vertical guages
Still need to be painted
I bounced around from task to task... working the main console greeblies
Eric was kind enough to mold these rockers for us!
New dial with black details
Knobs in place
After fixing the CNC Daniel jumped into action and cut these new window petals and main window frame
The petals required a little bit of trimming but they look awesome!
Adding/Sanding filler
I have only one photo of the cockpit entrance wall... the weekend has been insane! More on this later
A nice little surprise came in the mail!
A Huge thanks to Wavey for spotting this on Ebay!
It was time to finally paint and pin stripe the Volvo panels
Satin Clear
Panel #2 fought me the whole way!
But I won in the end!
Two new Volvo dash still need to be painted
And in place
WHOOPS... let's not forget this little guy!
Wiring, Wiring, Wiring! Enjoy!
Another panel down!
A Crowded House! These guys and gals worked their collective butts off!
Another panel done!
A few panels were messed up. A LONG TIME AGO yours truly accidentally put white LEDs into Yellow Fresnal Lens cover. Everything worked but the colors were off... So Eric and Brittany replaced the white LEDs with yellow! Almost ready to turn on!
Having fun with a fish eye lens
Working well into the evening(s)
Closer and Closer!
Again, my apologies for not enough photos. It's been a zoo! Unfortunately, we've decided to stop progress on the canopy in order to not only address a few growing concerns but also focus our attention on the wiring and other vital areas.
I'm sure a lot of you have been asking why the mad rush... why are they working these late nights? You may or may not be aware but Episode VII is RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER!!!! We've been in talks with the Huntsville Space and Rocket Center to display the cockpit for the opening premiere! Our latest round of talks has the cockpit on display for at least 3 months! We're all VERY EXCITED but we're still in the discussion stages so we're not sure of the fine details just yet! That's why we're scrambling. We want to daze and amaze! And with only one weekend left... who knows what's going to happen! Fingers Crossed!
And this goes without saying, a HUGE THANK YOU to the entire team for another round of late nights, boxes of Oreo cookies, pizza, great company and excellent times!
More to Follow!
