1:1 "Freeborn" YODA (THE ULTIMATE GOAL) R.I.P STUART FREEBORN

Re: 1:1 ESB....YODA....(WIP New pics page 4)

I think I know what you're on about Jorg... :lol

I'll see how things go... each version of the screen puppet was different (3 if I remember Nick telling me was the number)... We'll see how the cookie crumbles so to speak.

Phil

Ah - very cool!:)
I knew it:love
Yes, every version was totally different. I´m eagerly awaiting to see which version you choose!:love
I´m looking forward to see this. I´m sure it will be phenomenal.

Re: 1:1 ESB....YODA....(WIP New pics page 4)

Yes... and be sure that EVERY wrinkle and fold will match up almost perfectly.... nothing idiolised here:love

Re: 1:1 ESB....YODA....(WIP New pics page 4)

I'll be using Urethine rubber for the display pieces because its cheaper and Platsil silicone rubber (much more expense) for the puppet version. New WIP pics this weekend.:love

Here's a rare pic of a fresh from the original mold Yoda pull, before being attached to the animatronic inner structure.

It shows ow tall the head actually is in real life... Also show the true ear size ;)

And heres the sculpt as it is at the moment... I had spotted quite a few things that needed correcting from the previous edits... infact 80% to be honest :$ This includes raising the forehead up by half a mile... which helped the eyelids immensely... correcting the nose and bringing the chin forward somewhat.

Now onto the detailing... my favourite part. I hate leaving things half finished and I promise not to forget to include the wart above his left eye :lol

Re: 1:1 ESB....YODA....(WIP New pics page 5)

Texturing goes on today and a few further refinements....then we'll see where we stand.

Like I said I'm aiming to acheive ultimate authenticity...no idealised underfinished rush jobs. i.e. the nose has to be the right shape aswell as the ears being the right size. The wart above the left eye has to be evident along with the mouth being the correct shape... not to mention it has to look like it was sculpted by the hand of Freeborn not an over smooth underfinished job that could so easily happen if you're motives are in the wrong place.

I'm trying to acheive the ultimate look and I'll stop at nothing till its acheived:love

You know this post just seems like an attack on another sculpt being shown here.

You seem to be a very insecure person. Chewie15 waited a long time to show his Yoda, in fact he waited until your yoda thread had been quiet for almost 2 weeks before he showed his just so it wouldn't look like he was competing with you. Then as soon as he posts it you bump your thread with no new information just to compete with him and now you bumped this thread 4 times in a row.

Take it easy and try not to be so obvious.

Re: 1:1 ESB....YODA....(WIP New pics page 5)

HOW PATHETIC!!!!

Me insecure???? I know what I'm capable of so I'm certainly not wanting for confidence in my own abilties :confused

If anything I don't want anyone to miss out a few obvious things TRUE Yoda boffins would never miss then you make a statement. And as for timing things suspiciously... why has a new Indy project been mentioned a few times when my version has just been revieled... You don't know the true picture so please stick your nose into someone elses business!:angry

You some kind of mole/insider but lets be serious now... whos the hypicrite here? Or shall I send someone over to the other thread for me to do my dirty work like you are...lets be grateful I'm not that small!

This shows how much you are on the ball, Jorg. Yes the loose skin as it looks from the original Freeborn sculpt has certaibn facial features that get distorted when the foam gets stretched over the animatronic skull (i.e. the nasial lobial folds). This gives a wider appearance to the eyes and also... as you've probably noticed aswell, the eyelids are a slightly different shape where the animatronic lids had slightly warped the rubber.

You are definately a Yoda boffin!
:thumbsup

if you do a puppet version:
don´t forget to stretch the whole facial skin, that will be pulled a little as it goes a tiny little bit tighter than sculpted over the mechanical skull.
The face has a little distortion. Makes it a lot more realisic and Yoda typical.

Re: 1:1 ESB....YODA....(WIP New pics page 5)

Well Phil you've done another fine job so far, really looks the part, theres been a lot of cool yoda threads on here lately, makes me want to have another go at it myself.
Its such a great design, simple yet elegant as well if you know what i mean, and capturing the look can be hard, but i think you and the others have nailed it, its not a competition thing i think, just done for the love of the character, and it shows in the work being produced

Re: 1:1 ESB....YODA....(WIP New pics page 5)

Wow you've changed, must be the Gino factor. If you succeed your work will speak for itself, no need to tear down others labour of love.

Re: 1:1 ESB....YODA....(WIP New pics page 5)

What's wrong with being like Gino as far as being honest... At least I don't go out of my way to follow other sculptors projects like Howard is... But hey I don't care what you're thinking.

Re: 1:1 ESB....YODA....(WIP New pics page 5)

In the context Phil used it is. I was referring to the tone of post #105 onwards.

Oh please! My Indy collaberation gets unveiled... What happens?

My Yoda project gets interest.... What happens?

My Reeve project gets advance stages... What happens?

I know what I'm capable of with my art it's a pity someone who's extremely jealous or envious is targeting me in such an obvious cynical way so please don't lecture me about ethics here.

Re: 1:1 ESB....YODA....(WIP New pics page 5)

Err, it is a prop forum, why shouldn't there be more than one take on a character, i thought thats what this place was about, your a good artist Phil, but your sounding more than a bit paranoid.

Re: 1:1 ESB....YODA....(WIP New pics page 5)

Lookin Sweet Phil. I've been following this whole process for many months and I gotta say the results are phenomenal. :)

Re: 1:1 ESB....YODA....(WIP New pics page 5)

Heres the latest update.... Almost there.

I'm trying now to capture every form on the surface of Yodas head... every square cm is being scanned for details.
