“There and Back Again; A Mystery Chunk Tale”

With the information being 2 days old?
yes. It will be a thing ;)

NOS means “new old stock” aka. A mint condition vintage item.

wannawanga is definitely not the only one who can offer them. Just keep an eye on the junkyard and exercise a little bit of patience since we’re all just humans operating at the pace we are capable :)

oh hell yeah this is exactly what I was hoping for!

I was going to bid on the pair I saw but didn’t to avoid the bid war so the request from those with first hand knowledge of the boots worked for at least one person. :).
Perhaps we could all agree to let one person bid on the boots if it were promised that each person who was in on the “group buy” received a chunk. Max of 46 participants.

The funny part is, if you started an interest list and got 46 people signed up to pay $10 each you’d have $460 to buy a pair of boots, probably enough money to out bid the other offers in the auction, and everyone gets one for $10.

Make it $15 a person and you’ve got $690 of bidding power.

That seems literally like a backward way to do it.

I see both sides of this. Maybe there should be some kind of post in the project run section to let people know who's bidding on them.

It seems to me, we should nominate one or two folks as control buyers. Some folks are doing this already.

And then get a signup going for folks. If funds need to be pooled for that then let them handle collecting them to make bids.

then they go out and buy and bid on boots and we funnel everything through them.

Once procured the expectation is they funnel the studs back out to the RPF and contributors to procuring the boots.

Just my thought. This is how we should have done it to begin with. C'est la vie.

We can try to be organized-- but there are tons of lurkers and low posters and other forums altogether just as interested in this that have no interest in being a part of the community as much as getting vintage legit parts for themselves. There's no way to not drive the prices up-- that's why Scott and Bryan waited to have them in hand before breaking the news. That's why Scott is able to sell them for around $8. They made the right call, but once this news is out it's a lot bigger than just us folks in this thread.

100%

It’s already started getting weird and doesn’t need to be. Hope you guys see why I was leery to share initially.

This thread is a great read and I'm so glad I don't have the bug for this saber like I do the ANH ones.

I really appreciate what you guys are trying to do in controlling the supply in a way that benefits all. However it is a little frustrating to read that some of the studs on the boots acquired by the select inner circle are already sold. I haven’t seen a post in the Junkyard or Project Runs forum. If we’re going to nominate a few members to buy these boots and sell them to the community than it really needs to be 100% aboveboard.

Agree.

Dude, I don't really think you can blame anyone for taking care of their own first or for taking care of their own needs/requirements first.

That's like being PO'd that they kept a chunk or three for themselves and aren't offering them all up for sale.

I will be transparent for my own part: I have NO pair myself. BRRogers is sending me a few from his pair of varying grades. teecrooz MAY send me 1 that is mint from his pair for modeling purposes if Bryan does not have a mint one for me.

Other than that, my participation while knowing early has been on the research front not the procurement one.

I personally wish this had been coordinated better
