Magic Sculpt - any tips on use?

Best tip I can give is on speeding up the cure. Normally it takes a good 24 hours or more to fully cure, but if you put it out in the summer sun (I was living in southern Missouri at the time so probably 90-95F outside) It will cure in at most a couple hours. Alternatively you can put it under...

you tried sanding or smoothing that flexbond stuff in any way Grave? Would be nice since a large problem with a lot of foam armor out there is the very visible seams

    Flex Seal

flex seal is pretty much exactly the same as the rubber undercoating sprays you can get at an automotive store. I'd suggest trying that if you want to do some tests, as it's much cheaper than flex seal.

Makerbot 3D printer/prototype machine: Anyone have one?

with the reprap/makerbot machines, yes the final part is plastic.. I print in ABS, but can also do HDPE, PLA and a myriad of other plastics if need be. You don't need a 3d scan of an object so to speak.. you could use a scan.. but you do need a 3d model of some kind. I've been using 3ds Max...

Makerbot 3D printer/prototype machine: Anyone have one?

I have a reprap mendel. Isaac variant (same as standard mendel but some redesigns to be able to be cut on a cnc router) been using it for the past few months. Here's some examples of what i'm working on right now with the printer, the sniper rifle that garrus uses in mass effect 2

    Shapeways and "recasting"

swing and a miss again. YES the models are there for purchase. but NO they did not just appear out of nowhere. Someone has to create them and upload them to shapeways, it doesn't matter who, but someone has to put the work into creating the original 3d model.

    Shapeways and "recasting"

you clearly missed the point of what I was saying, shapeways does not just have all these models up there for purchase, someone has to create them. Which is no different than buying a prop from someone who scratch builds it, that person puts in the work to create a master product, or in this...

    Shapeways and "recasting"

All the work that goes into creating a good, printable 3d model is easily equal to the time that a skilled scratch builder puts into creating something via sculpting/woodworking/etc. Not to mention the traditional work that has to go into finishing a print. The prints themselves are in no way a...

    OT: 3D Printer -- IT'S RUNNING!!! -- Video Page 2

Re: OT: 3D Printer -- Under Construction -- Electronics I've been using a reprap derivative for a few months now (specifically the Isaac variant) And loving it. You'll go through some growing pains getting used to using the printer, especially figuring out skeinforge (if that is what you...

Halo MA37 from cardboard (pic heavy)

this looks sick (in the good way) looking through your progress shots i'm assuming the brightly colored stuff is those thin sheets of EVA craft foam. Just curious about those, how did you carve/stamp the textures into them, like on the grip, or the base of the barrel where it attaches to the...

    Chell 2.0

it does match what is in the game actually. I'm the one who gave yodajammies that shot. that model is ripped from the game files, so it's accurate the textures might be mapped to the wrong areas though in that shot.. hard to tell

Are there plans out there for a large Vac Form machine?

if you're looking to just buy one not build one, and not spent huge amounts of money Stelter makes a 4x4 version, never used one myself, but from what i can tell in their videos they're pretty nice quality. Vacuum Forming or you could just base your own design around theirs, it's not really all...
