Legend of Zelda Master Sword Scratch Build - WIP

This was a projected I started last spring (got the blade done) then it sat dormant until this weekend. All pieces are made from scrap wood left over from other projects.

Blade, and hilt pieces shaped and primed

"Wings" added, lots of putty, sanding and primer

Adding the graphic to the blade

Thanks, I'm having fun with it so far.

More progress.

Added the tips to the hilt, filled, sanded and primered

Beveled the bottom of the hilt (I think it looks much cleaner)

...and started adding details

Looks really great but where did you get the ideas for the tips you added in post two of progress? Is there a master sword this is modeled after or just adding your own unique touches?

There are multiple interpretations of the sword, some of which have the tips go through the wings and others where the wings rest on top of them -here's a couple of images:

ah I see, I haven't played Hyrule Warriors and the master sword I always think of is the one from Ocarina of Time

yeah there have been variations over the years the most different probably is the silver and red hilt master sword from A Link to the Past

Bondo, sand, Bondo, prime, sand, repeat....

Jewels cut, sanded and applied

The grip took a couple of tries -first idea ended up being terrible and I had to cut it off. But, liking this version very much.

Couple of pics of the final primed hilt

Grip added. Also integrated an inscribed band around the bottom of the hilt (EVA foam scribed with a pencil)

Next step, hit it with a gloss black coat to prep the piece for chrome paint (I'm almost sorry to do it, I think it looks pretty in its prime

)

That looks so much cleaner then the first few photos, so good. The whole thing looks amazing, great job.
