The Definitive Hawkeye "Avengers" Costume Thread

C'mon, people!! There's a viagra commercial playing behind a man raising his taut bow as he is about to shoot an arrow and not a single joke in sight.

Very dissapointed in the RPF right now.

:)

Nick

I thought it... but I wasn't going to be the first to say it. ;-)

PPaul, Good looking work!!! Not 100% on the size but I would bet they're close to .32 or .34.

Hypeface, I assume you're takling about the shoulders, carbon fiber material isn't an exact match, it may be a certain type but I haven't found it yet.

Nick, You're a bad man...

This material is the Cordura fabric... I opted for the more purple look as I stated earlier in this thread it helps me cope with the lack of comic influence of the movie suit. They did however have what appeared to be the exact burgungy Cordura, but I was'nt interested in that. Other pic is my buddy that I recruited to be Hawkeye wearing under shirt.

Edit: I guess I can't post pics that i've already posted somewhere else? so in the mean time check out my compound bow that I painted with a color change paint! goes from black/green to purple gives it a nice tie in with the rest of the purple I'm going for but still looks tactical. sorry for the bad pic more to come.

jolive, you can use a free image hosting site like imageshack.us to upload photos, and they'll provide you a forum link to use. That might be easier than trying to hotlink previously-uploaded photos.

I've googled about every combination of words I can come up with for those side release buckles. I don't think they are custom made either. However, they are impossible to find.
They're called "slip lock" or "sliding bar" buckles. I haven't found the exact buckle used in the movie and it appears to be a combination of two sliding bar buckles, perhaps soldered together? Such as these:

Metal buckle - Adjustable sliding bar - 1¾" Handbag Making Supplies @ tallpoppycraft.com :: Tall Poppy Craft Products

Or these:

Amazon.com: John Howard Company 5058 - Sliplock Buckle 1.5 In 6 Pack: Sports & Outdoors

Does it exist any bows that actually "pops out" like it does in the movie...?

Since the "pop out" action was actually computer-generated and that folding bow never existed in real life... no. :) But it would certainly be possible to build a non-functional prop that mimicked the action, if you wanted to have one.

Wrong buckle. We are talking about the side release buckles on the belt and in the armpit area. They are the ones that resemble the Cap TFA buckle.

Which is something I'm actually working on right now, using magnets and springs. We'll see how it goes...

Hmmm...I'm also trying to find where I could buy the straps he has on his thighs/legs. Any idea where to buy those online?
Not sure what I should Google for either. Buckle straps?

Have you read my first post (or the rest of the thread)? It gives the names of the known parts and the sizes of both the pants buckles and the vest buckles, sans those that we haven't ID'd yet.
Honestly folks for those that continuously jump on asking the same questions that have been answered, take a few minutes to read through the thread. A lot of work and research has been done to this point (and is still ongoing) to get the most accurate info. as it's learned/uncovered out to the community. If it's a custom or special item a distributor is listed, if it's something you can find with 3 minutes and Google, take some initiative.

I know it was posted here earlier but is there anywhere in the UK that does similar to the monsterhinge? They have a minimum order of 25 and I only want two. Shipping alone is the price of my bow :lol

Paul

PPaul-Don't think it was ever posted on where to get them, but we know from the production folks that it was all completely custom made, so we may be on our own or at least on our own for all the greeblies.

Short overall update- Wes and I are working on sources for both the "wine" vest fabric and main pants fabric. No promises but we have been contacting a boatload of merchants and fabric suppliers to get some help. And to date we've been told that they are no doubt custom and would require a large minimum order (no less than 1200yds). Also, we may have a very close buckle match for the smaller vest buckles. Stay tuned!

Correction: I found the buckles. I'm waiting on response from a vendor and a sample, if it's a positive match I would be willing to pay for the minimum order for the vest (smaller) and the belt (larger), if there is enough interest. Realize the minimum is 2000pcs. per size.
