Star Trek III Tricorder Project - Complete!

Re: Star Trek III Tricorder Project - Now Blinky!

I've added the super-simple electronics!

Here is testing out the circuit:

It consists of a battery, two resistors, and two blinky LEDs. It worked from the start, but the two LEDs blinked together, which looks kinda boring. So I made one of the wires to the LED much longer than the other, now they blink at slightly different rates, so they go in and out of phase.

Then, I just had to install all that stuff into the tricorder head, and solder it together-

The first step was making a bracket for the switch, then gluing it in.

So now, when you pull the head open, it starts blinking. When you close it, it stops.

I'm pretty happy with it. Now I just have to finish tweaking the head sliding action a bit, so it will stay open a bit better, and it will be all done!

So, this thing is now ready to go. Here's a shot of it in action:

Hope you've enjoyed this build!

Great budget build!

I love all of the Trek III props and ships. Probably my favorites of all Trek movies and shows.

And thank you, Phase Pistol for posting those dimensions! They'll come in handy!
