C3PO build

That looks fantastic and really secure, same with kurtyboy, would love some shots of how the frame/skeleton looks on the inside.

I've been looking for a 3PO to ride on the back of my landspeeder that I could mount in a sitting position. I also need an inexpensive light weight R2D2. See the speeder at RealMovieToys.com for an idea of what I'm working with. We have the Dallas Christmas parade this Saturday and was hopping to have the two droids on the back by then, but now it's getting to late. Let me know if you can help or have suggestions. I'll check out golden armor now that I've seen what you've been able to do with that kit. fantastic job.

You apparently know Phillip, are you in the DFW area?

Thanks, Kenny

I know you his is a fairly old thread, but I was wondering if you painted threepio gloss black before spraying on the gold or did you just spray the gold over the primer?
thanks

Never seen the point in the gloss black thing. I would assume it's to get a smooth surface for the gold so really any color could be used.

However, you'd be far better using a few coats of primer and then wetsanding it to a smooth finish (my preference is 600 grit, 1200, 2000 or 2500) and then polishing it with a cloth or tissue. You will end up with a glass smooth gloss finish much better than what you get from gloss paint.

Painting gloss black under the chrome gold is supposed to add depth to the finish. I've seen samples done with both and there does seem to be a difference with some paints.
