My Little Pony: Action figure (fully articulated) Princess Luna 3D printed

While i'm waiting for the casting supplies I went ahead to start on the assembly instructions for the kit version of the figure.

I'm still going to add dotted lines page numbers etc. These instructions will be printed and send along with the kit version of the figure and will also be posted online on my deviantart account for those who get the completed figure and want customize it or something :p

I I'm about to order some resin and resin dye's but it looks like the color i need isn't sold. Does anyone know if it's ok to mix 2 SO-Strong PU resin dye colors together before pouring them into the resin so i get the Color i need? I intend to cast the entire figure in midnight blue but the blue dye that i can get is only in bright navy blue so i was thinking of mixing a little bit of black dye in there. so does anyone know if i can do that and it wont muck everything up?

I just read your entire thread ... boy, what seems so easy and forward for our friends overseas when they mention their simple molding and casting techniques and supplies ... is quite a hassle to replicate here in the Netherlands I suppose. Who's the only seller you mentioned ... is it Form X in Amsterdam? Looking forward to your progress and it's my pleasure to see and meet another dedicated dutch member hard at work :)

Yep i use formx, though my experience with them has been mixed :(
but yeah i agree what seems so easy for everyone in the US is quite the hassle just to get the supplies here :(

Well after much delay i finally have the shipping confirmation that I'll have all of the supplies i need tomorrow...

I apologize to everyone eagerly awaiting the final result and your pre-ordered figure. Looks like i'm going to be making the molds this weekend (the clay I got for the two part molds didn't work so I had to get different clay which is coming along with the rest of the supplies)
and then hopefully i'll have something cool to show you by the end of next week. I'm going to try and finish the instruction booklet for the Kit version of Luna tonight so expect an update on that tomorrow.

Fast approaching the finish line now :)

Also yesterday I promised an update on the Instruction booklet. Sadly i only managed to finish the first page. in anycase here it is.
I'll try to finish the rest when the molds are curing.

Ok part one of the two part mold is done. i could probably have made the surface of the clay bed a little smoother but all in all in turned out pretty good for my first ever silicone mold

one thing though. it's a nightmare to get the remaining tiny bits of clay off the mold. can anyone recommend a good way to get plasteline clay off?

well so far everything is not well. I've tried casting the feet using the mold in the pictures above but it's full of bubbles in major structual areas especialy around the ball joint.

I've dusted the mold with mold release and talc. i tried turning the mold upside down and spinning it. but it's no use. I think i may need to make a new mold for the feet :(

I never tried it for this kind of mold but I had some luck using a plam sander (without sandpaper) on the side of the mold to remove air bubbles in concrete molds.
