I know one of the main the things that kept me from the "Golden" Armor kit was that the gun shrouds are molded/separated right in the middle. So that's an extra step (or 4) that I, personally, didn't want to hassle with: having to line each up perfectly for gluing (if they do indeed line up) and then having to fill each seam and smooth them out, just didn't appeal to me.They're still visible at certain angles of the GA "finished" Drone on his site.
Not sure why GA didn't build the gun turret separately like logan74k did. In addition to allowing the 4 gun shrouds be one piece (and saving lazy, old men like myself extra work), it also allows the option of having the 2 gun turrets be "open" in firing position.
GA's scribe/indentation lines don't look to be as clean/straight as logan74k's either, at least based on photos of each (Haven't received my logan74k kit yet, so can't verify). And it seems logan74k's is a much more detailed kit, i.e., compare each kit's "eye," or rear exhaust port (located at the upper-rear-starboard side), or that the 4 outermost gun shrouds aren't hollow like logan74k's are. Plus logan74k has many more parts (which could be a negative for some, but I find it to be a positive).
The Golden Armor Drone is by no means a horrible kit (and I know it's WAY better than I could ever scratch-build) and it is less expensive. Can't really tell if it's bigger than logan74k's, the same, or smaller. But the items mentioned above (along with GA's less than stellar reputation here) kept me from going that route. But that's just my 2 cents. And I've been wrong before.
