Thanks for the plans Chaim. Since you are one of the "big" users in the Star Wars sect., I was wondering if you have any plans for a basic saber. I like the Luke ROTJ, and that is definitely one that I will do (at least the top portion), but I wanna see if there is something even better?
First ... thank you for your compliment being a 'big' user in this section I just like to assist wherever I can regarding lightsabers especially OT. Second what do you regard a basic lightsaber? And third how would it top Luke ROTJ by being better?
To top the ROTJ Luke ... I'd say try your luck on a Luke ROTJ Reveal lightsaber variant :
... or even better a vintage OB1 ANH Reveal lightsaber cut-through as can be seen here :
Or you could start with a small version of Luke's ROTJ as done here by member russrep :
Just found another Luke ROTJ with adjusted more screen accurate numbers* :
* in red on the left and black on the additional 'grenade' section on the far right.
Still wrong not screen accurate angles though, I do not have numbers for those.
Nice...thanks. I would prefer the "stylized" one anyway, cuz accurate or not, I think the non-uniform "grenade" section looks like chit. And nobody would notice a dimension being off by a millimeter.

I wasn't saying that something can be better than the Luke ROTJ, because that is one of my favorite lightsabers. I was just saying that are there even more easier saber to just start off as. but just looking over other sabers, I will definitely start with a Luke ROTJ and Obi Wan ANH type of saber first. Did not mean to insult the true beauty of the Luke ROTJ at all.
EDIT:
and by no means will I try to do a crystal chamber reveal anytime soon
No worries I never took your honest request as an insult towards Luke ROTJ that's not how I interpreted your inquiry That said if you want easier sabers to build you have to look at some Prequel lightsabers ... the apprentice kinds or perhaps even the younglings ... alas I don't have any plans or diagrams of those in my archives :$
Thank you ... but even I have to bow down to Bradley also known as Slothfurnace ... he's the real saber smith, since he has not posted in this thread yet . . . I'd like to take the opportunity to introduce his work to those who don't know it :
The pommel cubes do need to be milled out. A friend of mine tried to do it without the correct machine and they came out okay, but a bit blunted and the "bottom" or "back" of each cube is cut inwards. I think he obliterated all the metal in between in rows and tried to get that "angle". Worked well though!
