Hi Gang,

I hope everybody had a wonderful holiday, a Merry Christmas and you're prepping for an awesome end to 2015!

What a week! First, EP VII - WOW! What an amazing ride that was! Awesome! Most of the crew has seen it twice already (some of us 3 times) and we're planning another viewing soon. Yup, it was just that good!

Second, the reaction and support to the build have been overwhelmingly positive! Anywho, we're back! After taking a much needed break, we shut and locked up the doors and got back to work! The Space and Rocket Center has encouraged us to continue working. We have full access to their shop... We're all really excited! So, no more babbling... enjoy!

Pam (Daniel's better half) showed me the work on the new seats! Can't wait to see these finished up!

My original plan was to use elements from ESB to design the back wall. I've been so awestruck by TFA that I spent the last few days designing new "EP VII" inspired greeblies for the new back wall. Also, and much more important, there was concern about access to the wiring and power supplies once the back wall was in place, so I designed several removable access panels.

Our newest team member, CJ, has been a HUGE help this past month!

We FINALLY started to hang the door. There is still extensive work to be done on the slider mech but... wow!

After a well deserved break a great update. From reading what you'd wrote about the flip down panels, I could tell they would be coming. They'll be a great addition to this fantastic project.

Yeah... I guess I am a little predictable.

Seeing those hatches used in EPVII was just another Christmas gift from the writers - they clearly wanted to showcase the MF in EP VII! The gifts just kept coming.

I was at the SRC taking measurements for the new access panels. Unfortunately, we'll have to take the top panels off in order to get to them but we need to make some modifications so why not just get it done, right?

That's the plan! This is the travel version of the cockpit. If and when we ever get started on the actual "Full Scale Falcon" a new and permanent cockpit will be built. But the travel version will def be hitting the road - if people want us of course.

Hey Sofa ... I have some cool old 35mm projector parts I've been saving for random greeblies, but figured I'd post this here just in case you were looking for ideas for your improvised back wall. It's the center part from an old platter system. I think it definitely has that Star Wars look ... If you like the look of it, I'd gladly send it to you!

Greeblies Greeblies Greeblies! Spent a few hours designing and laser cutting more greeblies for the back wall / cockpit entrance. Enjoy!

A small pile of MDF and acrylic to work with

3 box style greeblies

This is an odd shaped one

The original didn't have this greeblie on top. I'm going to see how it look before permanently adhering

Simple and straight forward - I might mod them to accept hoses and/or wires

I recut this guy with smaller mounting holes

Another simple panel looking greeblie

This one has a fan sitting in the lower rt hand corner. I still need to design the fan base and mounting points

I'm looking forward to seeing this guy finished up

This one is my favorite so far!

Lots of details plus I'll use the router for some of the edges. Should be pretty cool looking when painted up and weathered!

A big bag of rockers waiting for their clear acrylic spacers, black dot and in some cases a blue pin stripe

All these greeblies will be painted the standard silver with black/thinner wash. Today we get back started on the back wall - sanding, filling , etc...

Hey Jo,

Thanks! The door really frames everything in. Yeah, it nice seeing Vader or Ackbar in the background, but the door just finishes the painting.

Man-O-Man... seeing all the OT and ST stars in the cockpit for a group photo op? That would be amazing and something really special for all of us.

We've been looking! Original Martin Baker ejection seats are not cheap. 15K + if you can even find them. I think we're going to have fabricate them. That's one of the many many projects still to do. I've started them, then I get side tracked... off, on, off, on, etc etc... The most important piece of those chairs is the head cowl. If we can nail that look and feel then I think we'll be ok.

WOW! That is DEF a piece worthy to mount on the MF! Great find. I love the look and feel. Get some dirt and grime in there and we have a new greeblie.

What are the actual dimensions? 9" diam?

Glad you agree! It has an 8" diameter. There's also a piece that protrudes about 2" from the back, which is where it would mount on to the platter. Would make it easily mountable! There's also a cool old switch that's activated when the film depletes and swings that arm over. The switch could even be flipped 45 degrees and re-mounted to make it look cooler. PM me an address and I'l ship it over

Edit: It's called the "payout head" ... There are some cool looking ones one ebay!
