Bandai 1/72 PG Millennium Falcon (also the Revell Germany rebox)

Re: Bandai 1/72 Millennium Falcon

I know what you mean. There's hardly anything to do on this one to make it a perfect Star Wars model.

It's like the Rogue Studios guy in Florida finally constructing a replica 5 foot Falcon. On the one hand, it's an amazing piece of work. On the other, that imaginary frontier is now closed!

Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it?

Re: Bandai 1/72 Millennium Falcon

Ill just have to finish my MPC scale Falcon and move on to the 28 inch 5 foot version, just need a scaled wankle engine.

Actually i have decided not to get the Bandi kit, If I do I will never get my own done because I will never get it accurate enough to satisfy myself.

looking forward to seeing those who do get it build it up.

Cheers

Re: Bandai 1/72 Millennium Falcon

When i first saw this i really wanted one. Then i saw the price and thought , "i could get a second hand Deago one for that!" Now i have a second hand deagostini one and i am a bit disappointed with it. For what i paid though its fine. Its was stupidly cheap , BUT after seeing this video i think i will finish it , sell it on to a collector to pay for the Bandai one. Looks like the best falcon kit ever and its the original Falcon.

Master Replicas Falcon, repainted, has to be the best ever Studio Replica of this ship...

Re: Bandai 1/72 Millennium Falcon

I bought a Master replicas one when it came out and then totally repainted it , it was on here until photobucket went silly. That is one stunning model. That has spoiled me i think though. I cant help comparing the Deago one to that , and theres quite a big difference. Dont get me wrong , im really please with the price i paid for it , but for me the Bandai one would be better. The Bandai one though is the ANH version so it will make a nice change. No doubt once i have finished the Deago one i will change my mind.

Yes in terms of smaller details and kit greeblies. They are a bit more basic on the Deagostini one than the MR one.

I felt like the question was about whether the difference is "big" not whether there is a difference at all. To say it is a big difference, one can't qualify that with the phrase "bit more basic." That seems to validate the original question/suggestion: The MR is probably better on some level (or all levels), but the difference is not big.

Having said all this, it might be safer to say that since the MR didn't cost much more than the DeAgo, and the DeAgo has to be built and painted (let's admit it) and weathered, etc. then we can think that part of the equation is a big difference. I'd trade one of my DeAgos for a MR ship any day of the week.
