Hi Gang,
It Monday Morning!
The .25" plastic half round I ordered for the nav chairs arrived!
Let's measure up and get these adhered in place!
Time to add more details to the headrests
Looking more like a proper head piece
I then laser cut this guide (but then used much thinner 1/32 plexi)
Time to cut more of these 1/2 rounds
Adhered to the plexi
Edges trimmed up
Back support
Putting it all together
Added the seat trim
Using the heat gun I simply heated the edges then wrapped around the seat panel
Not the cleanest looking from this side
Cut these little pieces down to size
Adhered to the armrests
Primer!
Details!
Armrest details
I then laser cut these odd shapes
Blase plate
Ejection tube mounting plate
Let's get everything adhered together and primed!
Wound up having to make two new nacelles for one of the chairs
Added more details
Black Primer
Tupperware parts coming!
Painted the edges silver
More tiny details
Primed and in place
Armrests evenly aligned
3D printed head piece
Going to attempt to add some details
Sanded all the round circles off - going to laser cut new details (BUT NO RIVETS)
Lots of primer
I then changed focus to the main body - LOTS and LOTS of design work on the computer to make sure everything aligns
Working the new door frame
New shelves
I then laser cut these "corrugated" panels to match the full scale mats
Laser cut a hole
I designed a hole in the nav chair base - the base will mount to the platform(s) with a small bolt and keep the chairs in place
Marked the hole in the platform
Bolted in place
Next to new shelf
Panel(s) temp adhered into position
Upper panel
Note the tabs in the shelves - these will mount to the new back wall
The chairs swivel
The acrylic tubes arrived
Slid into position and marked to cut
The idea is to slide LED strips into the tubes and this should then, when LEDs are illuminated, back light the panels
I HOPE
I wound up laser cutting NEW "corrugated mats"
As you can see the heat from the laser cutter caused a bit of warping...
The BEST part of the weekend was my getting a new night light!
Philip Wise, from Force.net and Blue Realm Studios, was KIND enough to contribute a chess table to the project!
Coolest nightlight ever!
And this is where we are!
I cannot begin to say how thankful I am to P Wise! THANK YOU, P! This was beyond generous! You'll always have a seat in the cockpit!
You guys/gals know what this means? I have to build the couch... then the nav computer... then the hull... then the...
