Zvezda Avenger-Class ISD-II - WIP

Amazing stuff!

I did not think the Zvedza needed much work in the way of detailing, but you have sure shown otherwise

I was hoping I would not have to do much to it

Wedding cake Greeblies FINISHED! Top lid section completed - and all I have left to greeblie and come close to approximating from the ILM 8 footer, is the Bridge face, Neck rear and sides and a few mini rod greeblies to add to the new 3d Engine bells once those are glued into place.

Then I can begin to glue together the sub assemblies and prep the model for lightblocking and the arduous task of running miles of fiber in all these thousands of .30mm holes I have drilled.

You amaze me to no end, what an epic undertaking (y)
 
Awesome! My eyes can no longer work that small without mechanical augmentation. Now if you could send it back my way I'll get you a refund,or the 2nd kit I purchased,still un-built. After seeing what you've done I may never get it done! Crazy in the best way....

Oh, make no mistake - I have aplenty of mechanical magnification augmentation to be able to work an that micro-scale. Probably messed my vision up worse than it would be if I wasn't married to a headset magnifier. Thankfully my hands are still somewhat steady enough to work the Xacto #11 well enough to carve out all that detail.

Given the 1.5 years I have been working on this, I will likely never survive long enough to build another one like it. I have not even yet begun to run fiber and start on the lighting much less prime and paint and detail. I have no idea how long this is going to take me to finish, especially once I get into the fiber and electronics because I have only lit one kit before this one feels like it is going to be like working on the guts of an iPad.

If Bandai releases a PG Destroyer I am likely to just slit my wrists. However, given the ridiculous levels of detail on the ILM 8 foot model - I do not see how anyone can possibly achieve that level of detail on anything smaller. But I am trying to approximate it - which is difficult with the Zvezda given the amount of carving and sculpting needed on the base plastic to enable approximation.

But I do have to say, that upon dry-fitting the sub assemblies this morning - that all this tedium looks like it might pay off... provided I do not screw it up in the paint department:

That is an epic build, man... Makes me want to get one of these kits and start obsessing over it as you have!

man I'm telling you, the work you do which I'm well aware of by now, seeing it always leaves me in awe...I don't know whether we should hand you the keys to the kingdom...or call the guys in the white coats LOL(y)

I have experience all of these side effects already...lol... So it'll be a continuation of my current situation with modeling... Bring it!
 
The incredible detailing here is scaring me as I might contract AMS from you.
