Zorg 2-1B Droid Build

Yep. The blue needle tip (minus the needle), the cap that covers said needle, a shaved down pen tip, & an aluminum tube.

Stay off the spreadable cheese, man. Just say no.

Time to decorate for Christmas.

I didn't like the way I had to remove 2-1B from his stand to turn on his eyes so I picked up a RF remote. It works great and it was only $1.79!

I also weathered up the neck portion that I imagined would insert into the body of the droid.

The RF remote buttons - On/Off, lights can be 100%, 50%, and 25%, they can blink to your desired speed too

This may be of interest to anyone looking for a cheaper alternative to a vintage shure 55sh mic

Ive just received a replica mic body from aliexpress. it's looking like being pretty bang on for size.
Was only $30.39 + $7 shipping
Pretty good deal In my humble opinion.
I have yet to cut into it, so it's to be confirmed how it finished up.
I'll let you all know how it goes.

If anyone decides to get one from the same crowd just make sure to select the right bundle, one is silver two is gold.

How did that end up working? Did You cut it?

It's still in the box, I have been somewhat distracted with house renovations, and having a baby!
Still pretty confident that the mike will fit just fine. If you can wait a couple of days I may be able to borrow some calipers and more accurately measure.

There are Shure mic external replacement cages offered on eBay for about $40. I bought one for a 2-1B I’m going to build to sell. It says chrome in the description but it’s aluminum w the Shure coating that has to be sanded off after cutting the base bracket. Side by side to a vintage, they identical With exception of the cord hole not being present nor the stamped lettering

TattooineMachin, Do you remember which parts you got from Portumac? He says he has 3 sizes, S,M,L.
Which ones did you end up using? you mentioned you bought 6 of each, but did you use them all? I’m just seeing one type used 4 times. Just making sure.

thanks!

Not the middle ones in that picture, those look like lamp shades.

The larger ones go nearest to the face the smaller (right hand ones in the pic) ones to the rear.

Well I would have post a pic of my finished 2-1B but he was stolen from my office along with two RD Props X Wing helmets and a Troopermaster Sandtrooper helmet. Thieves are the lowest form of crap

I have taken measurements of the replica mic. It is 3.90 inches in length by 2.17 inches in width.
Seems to be pretty close to the dimensions Shure give for theirs according to this diagram.
