Zorg 2-1B Droid Build

Thanks guys!

The neck piece was something I just 3D modeled and printed. I didn't properly document the build for that, sorry, but here are a couple pics of the print up and build before installation:

The base structure is 3D printed with a few kit-bashed greeblie parts added on for some visual interest. I wasn't too worried about real detail since the internals are hidden a bit behind the optically distorting properties of the transparent plastic neck collar. I glued a 4-inch styrofoam ball into the head to then mount the neck piece to. The spherical attach interface gave me the adjustment room to make sure the spine was in line with the neck collar opening for final glue down.

I'm gonna call this one done.

Very nicely done!

I'm calling mine done as well:

I decided to go for the look of the first appearance of this guy in ESB. There are a few differences in details between that scene and the Hoth departure preps scene (e.g., fewer side greeblies, the internal neck hose). I also went with a more neutral dark silver color matching the look of the production prop on display rather than the bluish tint that appears to come from ESB's notoriously confusing color grading.

Much fun putting this one together and so happy to have it as a part of my collection now!

Dan - AKA 3DImpact inspired me to stick my neck out for 2-1B....I couldn't help it sorry. Here's what I came up with from all the camera parts I had left over from Luke's Marcobinoculars along with some Astromech bits and misc. pen parts and caps

Here's how I kept the rather heavy metal "neck" in place - drilled a big hole, cut it a bit to attempt to get the right angle and slipped a good old fashioned auto hose clamp over the post so the neck would stay in place!

I use bun furniture feet for to top my toilet paper holders to display helmets and heads - here's the set up before crowning it with 2-1B

I like metal stuff!

This is such a cool idea.

I realized I didn't add any greeblies to the other side of the neck and I found an old focus ring from a Kalimar lens (no not the correct one) so I added it to the bottom of the neck and some other bits. I'd still really like to make a metal neck ring at the base of the transparent head, but for now 2-1B is done!

I like the visual texture through the transparent lower head!

That looks really awesome - well done! I love the neck piece you've added, though it looks a bit more like a droid head that belongs in Jabba's torture chamber now!

is there a list of greeblies folks are using for the additional eye pieces? i have the blue needle parts, left over from my chronic drug use (spreadable cheese)

thanks
