The hat came in an envelope. It has a wire brim which makes it easy to shape. Now you can buy hatbands on the real deal site which look inspired by Zombieland
According to the Real Deal Brazil site, the wire used in the brim comes from old truck tires. It's a relatively small diameter, but it's not flimsy or weak--it takes a little effort to bend it, and it holds the shape very well. A few people have reported on Facebook that they broke the wire in their hats from shaping and re-shaping, and the R.D.B. rep that posts there asked them to contact him and he'd see what he could do. I don't know what the resolution was in each case, but apparently R.D.B. stands behind their products.
They've recently added tarp "ball caps" to their website, with elastic sweat bands and "hook and loop" (velcro, I assume) adjustable straps.
The had I won in February came with one of their hatbands. They're made from polished coconut husks and plastic beads, and held together with a thin, transparent, "fishing line" type of filament with black twine on the ends so you can tie it together and adjust for size. I haven't decided if I like the hat better with or without the hatband, but the look is more "Australian outback" than "Zombieland" to me.
