Your Indiana Jones Displays - Lets see 'em

Ok, so if that's the Jim Beam bottle in the post above, what's this bottle here (with the arrow pointing to it) and when did Johnny Walker Black bottles have the label that low on the bottle. I haven't found a reference one yet.

I don't think the label is low. It's the angle of the shot from the top.

The bottle you pointed to appears to have disappeared in the next few shots. My guess is a vintage JW Red Label turned sideways. But the image is too blurry to tell for sure.

I dunno, it's not at a weird angle. I think they may have reattached the label or something at some point or perhaps added labels to other bottles (i.e. multiple props ready in case some were damaged (which might explain why that one bottle disappears too). It's hard to say for certain with movie props when they even change entire medallions and think you won't notice.

The bottom label (signature label) is almost readable on the JW Black bottle from this shot (the "black" label does look a bit loose on the bottom. Maybe they corrected it from the previous shot?)

"Alexander Walker had introduced the brand's signature square bottle in 1860. This meant more bottles fitting the same space and fewer broken bottles. The other identifying characteristic of the Johnnie Walker bottle was – and still is – the label, which, since that year, is applied at an angle of 24 degrees upwards left to right and allows text to be made larger and more visible."

That means the 2nd shot is correct and the something odd must have happened with the bottle in the first shot where it's sitting lower (along with that other bottle disappearing by the 2nd shot). At least that means I only need to find a JW Black bottle with a cork and signature label instead of what was starting to look like the strangest exception bottle I've ever seen. ;)

Here's an interesting site on Johnny Walker bottles: Black 1950's, 1940's and 1930's

I have yet to find a single bottle that looks like the one from the movie (doesn't appear to say "Black Label" on it; looks more like "Fine Scotch Whiskey" (the bottles I've seen with that one sometimes said "Black label" on another spot on the bottle higher up. The bottom label doesn't look like any I've seen either. It looks like cursive writing or signatures and no "symbols" or large lettering like most (12 years and the like). It doesn't resemble the 1930s bottles I've seen so far either. Indiana Jones movies always seem to pick obscure things....

A bit late to the party on this one, but here is my display as it looked a few weeks ago. Since then a few new items have been added (Raiders Temple Stone Face, 'Charlamagne' Grail Knight Sword, FoA Medallion etc) I have various other bits and pieces dotted around other rooms too, but this is the area with the highest concentration:

Where do you find the mannequin like that to display costume?

They can look pretty good that way too Serenity. My first one was based off the umpire brush.

Once I saw that post from the Indy forum I remade a new one. The size comparison to Harrison favored the forums measurements.

I still think the umpire brush is a good alternative if you don’t feel like doing much work. They can come out quite nice.

I've scoured the Internet looking for appropriate donor brushes and have come up empty. Nothing is quite right, even the Umpire Brushes have that groove in them. That said, most of the small brush manufacturers offer custom brush options, and this would be a snap for them, but I have no idea what the minimum order for that sort of thing would be.

I honestly don’t have many Indy props these days. Trying to keep items to essential pieces. Mostly Raiders props as that’s my favorite.

The only things missing are the Gordon Gekko’s Grail, Hufvud hat, and bull whip. I also have Sankara Stone lying around somewhere :)

I received the FANTASTIC Streets of Cairo Fedora from Thomas at Advintage yesterday. It's incredibly well made to a very high standard. I'd recommend this to anyone.
Before I ordered mine, Thomas sent me samples of the different felt colours so I could choose which colour I wanted. He offers a good selection:

True Sable (Darkest of them all).
Sable (I picked this one as it matched up with the original Herbert Johnson hat colour).
Raiders Sable (Lighter than Sable - perhaps a bit too light).
Light Sable.

All these cater for the variety of colours that the hat "appears" to be in the movie (depending on lighting / filters etc), but ultimately, I selected the "Sable" colour as this is what Herbert Johnson used on the original hat that was made for the movie.

He does great work, and for a custom hat he charges below average imo. The SoC is probably his nicest bash, even though i have the opening sequence look myself.
Enjoy!
