Yoda finished...!

The FACE and HEAD look unreal, awesome, really great.

Ok I'll say it,
the rest though, i think really detract from it. The robe, belt really look weak IMHO.

The face is superb though....

Thanks GW and A5. I HOPE I'm getting better with age.

Thanks for the comps on the skin tones, Ortiz.

On the robe, etcetera, I agree -- to an extent -- with your opinions. Others I've shared this with have also commented privately that the robe appears "flat", after which I worked on it a bit more. But nothing would beat a cloth robe, as previously suggested and commented upon. When I find time to search out a fabric store, I'll upgrade it.

Regarding the robe, it also suffers from the photography issue. The weatherng is subtle (on screen, the robe actually appears fairly clean), and the texture Howard applied is extremely detailed, albeit fine. So both weathering and texture wash out in the photos.

I considered adding a strip of real leather for the belt ( I did in fact on the rear) but in front it is hard to see, so I just painted it...

the face and stuff are absolutely stunning

as for the clothes, I don't think it's your paint job,
I think it's the sculpt
the fabric folds just don't seem right

i wish i could get just the head of this awesome sculpt. would be a great and cheaper way to make a yoda... plus you could make it poseable.

Opinions vary on the sculpted robe. Personally I was certain I was going to use cloth until I really studied it and worked with it.

Photography can tend to be less forgiving and more revelaing of flaws or weaknesses (there's that word. ;) )for some reason. That is actually one of my techniques -- I'll study my progress in person, think its ok, but photograph it and then study the photo to then discover more areas that need work.

Remember -- there is a $15,000 Yoda you can buy that has a sculpted robe. :p

I would absolutely LOVE if it were possible for Howard to offer a silicone or latex casting of just the head and hands/feet for those wanting to get "creative". I love my casting but the your photos of just the painted RESIN bust show how well Howard nailed the sculpt on our little green friend...

Thanks Riv.

Another note of thanks is to PropReplicator -- Wayne set me up with flute/necklace for a good price.
