Yikes! Mel Gibson caught on tape and dropped from agency

I wish I could answer your question, but I'd get an infraction.

My lengthy experience in the evangelical world has shown me that there are many people who claim to be religious who really don't act it behind closed doors. It's easy to be pious in public, harder with your wife and kids, your finances, etc. And frankly, is The Passion really some huge expression of faith? It's more or less just torture porn. So you make a titillating, sensationalistic movie so that people who normally wouldn't watch violence can rubberneck and get all giddy...it was like the religious person version of a kid discovering dad's Playboys. Very exciting, very thrilling, but I dunno. People's emotions are pretty easily manipulated. It doesn't speak well of Gibson's ethical code that he made that film, imo. I think the Road Warrior, with its simple, decent humanistic morality was a more uplifting movie.

Granted we're treading close to having a religious discussion here which I'll try and not delve into but I can't help but respond. You're absolutely right about the difference between how people act in public and how they act in private. It's just as true among "religious" people as it is among anyone else. Christians are human after all... Being a Christian myself, I'll be the first to agree with you on that. Heaven knows I've screwed up pretty royally... But there are also a lot of people (religious or not) who strive to live the same behind closed doors as they do in public.

As for the Passion being "torture porn", that argument I believe truly stems from a misunderstanding of both the message and the heart of the people that care for it. At least, if you think I love the film because it's "titillating" you're definitely mistaken. Rather than accuse people of that, why not have an honest discussion about it with folks that view their faith a bit more sincerely?

I used to really look up to Mel as have some others but I'm definitely disappointed in him to say the least. I'm afraid he may have done far more harm than good now which is an utter shame.

Well i guess i'm the middle aged white racist hermophob male shovinist pig. I've said worse and i would bet most if not all of you have too in a moment of anger. I really don't think it's all that bad. So he used the N word. When the black community is so offended by the N word that they themselves stop using it i will then maybe be offended by it. As to the rest, i think fake and porn star type big boobs are nasty looking and spells out hooker to me too. He should have never hooked up with this Russian goldigger to begin with.

So THAT'S why he didn't want to do Lethal Weapon 5....

Amazing when you see this unfortunate real side of someone when the cameras are off....

He made an official quote...

"I'm too old for this ****."

Seriously??? People are making a big deal about this? The man was upset with his ex, so what. He said some ugly things, sure, IN PRIVATE! Because of that people now hate him? Grow up, folks. He's human like the rest of us. We've ALL said some ugly things when we were mad at some point. Learn to seperate the art from the artist.

It certainly isn't any of our business, but when it comes to the movie business, I'd rather know that I'm supporting good people in general and not total a--holes.

So he has a foul mouth when he's angry. I never met the man so I have no clue what he's really like. I bet he's not like this all day or on set.

It was a private call to his wife. I call people bad names while I'm in traffic by myself. Does that make me a bad person?

Sticks and stones!!

This recording was just released and he was dropped today by Endeavor

Oh, now I'm with you. I had a look around online - the story itself came out on July 2, but they hadn't released the actual tapes then, only quotes from them.
