My understanding was that the alien 'goo' was actually KY gel. Not sure where I read that.

What I do have trouble understanding, is the need for a species to go from Queen to face-hugger to host to final creature. Seems evolution would have found a better way than that.

Of course, I have read that they are biological weapons of some sort, so they were probably designed by a committee....

The other issue I have...isn't the Queen Alien the real victim here? They are not intentionally trying to hurt the humans they art simply trying to survive.

Makes us freak a little without an earthly explaination, it's enhances the strange alien nature of it all.

I think I read once years ago people guessed that the tubes on the back sucked in oxygen and helped it grow fast in an oxygen rich environment. I mean it has acid for blood so who knows what messed up growth processess are going on in the thing. And I've learned that Ridley said that it would only live for a few days, so that sort of adds balance, it is for one swift purpose and dies so the trade off is there.. fast growth, but fast death and not to last.

Alien 3 gave us cuter Aliens for our chidlren to grow up with. The Dog Alien, and Ripley's little bundle of joy Alien...

Assimilation of species is the whole purpose, isn't it? The Queen uses its prey as spawn for stronger Aliens. The stronger the prey, the better the Alien spawn. Predalien was da Bomb in Requiem!
