fantastic work! I love checking on the progress of this

Hehe cool, those latest update photos remind me of the power-loader scene in Aliens. Maybe you could add hydraulic assistance to your build :D

Re: XRobots Iron Man Mk6 UPDATED: Exoskeleton strapping system - Boots and Partial Sh

This is looking truely spectacular as always James. I have been following this build pretty much from the early days when it was just foam. I never thought it would become a rigid suit. My wife isn't going to be happy with you when the plastizote, silicon and smooth-on arrives in the post. She best count her luck stars that it's only the helmet I am going to cast when it's done......well for now :)

Tom.

This is beautiful. The simplest solutions aren't always the best. I never would have thought about the ankle problem unless you brought it up (natural walking). Also, I should have posted this ages ago, but the servo solution is really unique and pretty simple. I've been working with a much more complicated hinge which is more visible. Well done all around. Thanks for the videos also.

Yes it's a UK product which has an optional thickener additive: Silicone RTV Rubber

Hi James. I may have missed the answer to this question in your thread/site if it's there but if you don't ask you don't learn. I have just ordered my silicon and smooth-cast and was wondering how much of the smooth-cast was required to cast your helmet (roughly)? I ordered the 0.9kg pack as I assume that should be more than enough for one but as I have never done this and can't afford to overdo it or use to little I thought I would check first to make sure I get it right first time.

Your help would be greatly appritiated in this matter,
Tom.

Yes I used around 1Kg of 65D for the cast, so you should be ok with the smaller kit.

do you know what quantity would be needed to make a whole suit ? and what's the differences between 321 320 and 65d ? is it possible to get the suit casted but less exxpensive ?

The 65D is specifically for rotocasting - it sets gradually so you can get an even cast. Less expensive than Polyurethane?... probably with polyester resin and fiberglass.

James, the genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist... fantastic!

Re: XRobots Iron Man Mk6 UPDATED: Exoskeleton strapping system - Boots and Partial Sh

Hey James.

First things first. Hats off to you sir for such an amazing and inspiring build. The exoskeleton really takes your suit to the next level. I especially like the mechanics of the boots and hopefully I can apply some of your method into my suit as the boot set up is one of the things on my mind the most.

Before I start my cast I want to have everything ready to make it perfect. So i have a couple of questions for you if I may. I only have 2 things I am unsure of now. I will ask here rather than a PM in case it helps some one else trying the same. First off did you use a release agent for demoulding or does the RTV pull off fairly easy? Also what brand of filler did you use once the piece was cast cause I obviously don't want it to crack off if I get the wrong one.

Looking forward to your assistance in the last pieces of my puzzle,
Tom.

P.s. I say last pieces but I bet I have more to ask before the final plunge :p
