X-WING & TIE PILOT HELMET progress pics

For clarification purposes, I did not take apart and mold a hero tie helmet to produce this replica.
However all this helmet's components are cast off original with real lineage.
Any discrepancies seen in the comparisons are due to trimming or assembly, not the parts themselves.

I realize to some that may still sound cryptic, but that's really all I can say about it.

When you say ''cast off original'', original what? Did did you just use your preexisting stormtrooper faceplate and cast a SU rebel helmet and then join them together?

This doesn't make sense to me. I've appreciated your work for some time, especially your hyper attention to accuracy and detail. Why now would you publicly display such an inferior product, when you've been so diligent in the past???

Whoa!

Gino youre backtracking and to me it looks like youre trying to fudge the issue!

The word "hero" is irrelevant - there's only one HERO TIE known in existance and I've handled it several times.

The question was - Is your helmet a cast from an ORIGINAL TIE HELMET MADE FOR STAR WARS A NEW HOPE?

As SeanB13 has said it sounds like youre saying youve got bits from different original helmets (e.g. Stormtrooper, rebel). Thats fine but NOT the same as "cast from an original TIE"

Cheers

Jez

Next to the Boba Fett Helmet, the Biker Scout, and Royal guard, this is one of my favorites.

My main question that has probably been covered is has this always been a modified storm trooper helmet?

Or is it bigger by nature anyways?

I'm new to the scene and just wanted to pop in to say regardless of the controversy, I think the helmets look great.

I'd like to see how your X-wing helmet turns out painted, I've always been more partial to the Rebels!

Thanks Scoob,
I'm anxious to paint one up too.
I'd like to do a couple different versions actually but of course time is always a factor.

.

Send one my way with screenshots/pictures and I'll try my hand at painting up a version. I don't actually have any free time with my newborn at home, so this would never get done.

All joking aside, I'm looking forward to seeing the final painted and final assembled pieces. If the detail is anywhere near what you provided to eFX for their Vaders (and I know it will be), then these will turn out even more incredible than they already look.

I think it's more a matter of that Gino can't say the origins of the helmet because A) he'd loose that potential source for other projects and b) possibly a friend. I know we'd all love to know but he's not going to say so just leave it at that.

Gino looking forward to you painting up the x-wing helmet and starting on the AT-AT

That's the whole point. "original" but not saying what was original. It's all a game thats not worth playing any more.

Credit where credit is due, these helmets look fantastic whatever they are cast or moulded from.
I just wish that more of the rarer items such as accurate tie pilot helmets were available to the true fans out there.
I know that my lack of sculpting talent means that it is not likely that I will ever be able to own one of these and as Gino does not know me I can certainly say that I am not one of his circle of friends who will be able to obtain one of these.

Well done for some great helmets

Craig

Well I keep reviewing Keith's comparison photos and I keep asking the same questions: where do the individual component parts originate from..............because none of them appear to match any of the 3 original helmets pictured from either angle in Keith's photos. I mean technically, a Don Post deluxe TIE helmet supposedly had screen used origins. But man that's a wide definition of screen used when actually compared to screen used helmets. Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful helmet. But it's the shape and form of the parts which seem to differ from the true originals. If there is photographic evidence of "other" originals that were used that this body of propsters hasn't seen, that would lend credence to the claims. I hate to say it, but if the owner truly believes it to be directly pulled from screen used helmets, then he was viciously mislead by his source. There are scammers out there just waiting to lift your hard earned money!!!

beats me, but most of DP's stuff is extremely soft in detail or totally mis-shapen. There wasn't a single corner on that DP Deluxe Vader helmet that was sharp in detail like all the known accurate helmets out there. It's like DP took a rasp and smoothed over any corners that looked remotely sharp. Oddity at best.
