BIG UPDATE!!! 05/17/07

I made the (hopefuly) final Version of the Flight suit

a couple of weeks later...
Sry that this took so long but i had some work for CIV
The pics are a little dark, i will make some better quality pics by daylight soon.

About the changes:
1. I changed the triangular tab at the throat , its now longer and more accurate than before.
2. I moved the leg pockets up and shorted them a little
3. I changed the cuff tabs from pointing in- to pointing outward
4. I made the cylinder poket a little shorter
5. I shorted the arm poket on the right arm

Here we go with the new Version

Looking good!
Would you consider making them in black as well? I'm looking to upgrade my TIE pilot coverall...

Re: x-wing flight suit run by Loanstar

Did Tie and X-Wing flight suits had similar patten in the movie?

Re: x-wing flight suit run by Loanstar

Man! That looks reeeeally nice.
Two minor points. For the "data cylinder" pocket on the upper left sleeve, isn't the bottom at an angle instead of straight across? Maybe it depends on the reference pics, but I thought it was angled like in this pic.

Also, it looks like the triangular tab at the throat should extend a little further before coming to a point, like this:

I think those same jumpsuits were used in several different colors for different characters: orange for Rebel pilots, black for Imp pilots, gray for Death Star technicians. There may have been more.

Do you have a ballpark price on these?
Eric

Re: x-wing flight suit run by Loanstar

If this is available in black and the price is right, I may be interested in one. I may also be able to get a few people I know who are looking for TIE suit to get in on it.

Re: x-wing flight suit run by Loanstar

Yeah the arm pocket is angled and the neck/wrist tabs are longer. Here is a good example on the arm pocket. Note there were no rear pockets on the suits.

Other then that you have a very good looking suit. Yes, the Tie pilot, X-wing pilot, DS tech, AT-ST driver and Rebel tech and Hoth solders all had the same suit but different colors.

Cheers,
Jeff

Re: x-wing flight suit run by Loanstar

I would very much like a flight suit for x-wing, tie, at-at if you go that route.
I have a ton a ref images of the fabrics and details of pocket construction etc.. that would help out.
Send me an email if interested.

Re: x-wing flight suit run by Loanstar

You also need to move the leg pockets up and shorten them a tad...

Way to go Gino..

Cheers,
Jeff

Re: x-wing flight suit run by Loanstar

also your cuff tabs are backwards...they should be pointing outward.
the back should have an "action back" or "racing back"

Re: x-wing flight suit run by Loanstar

Oh yeah...the color, it should be more red and not so yellow orange. Ether that or your photo really is bright.

Cheers,
Jeff

Re: x-wing flight suit run by Loanstar

I'd be interested depending on price and colors offered.

All the Rebel Flightsuits are the same, Red, green, grey (dark for the Y-Wing) and Orange.

Light grey for Imperial and Rebel Techs,

Black for Ties, Gunners, and bridge crew

Re: x-wing flight suit run by Loanstar

i think the flaps on the TIE's pockets werent rectangles, but were irregular pentagons instead. i dont currently have any ref. pics to prove this though.

Re: x-wing flight suit run by Loanstar

I might be wrong here but i believe the TIE's only had one set of pockets on the legs and no pocket on the right sleeve.
If you do ever do a run of TIE suits and got the pockets correct i'd be in for one for sure the workmanship looks great

Re: x-wing flight suit run by Loanstar

Based on material weight, fixing the inaccuracies mentioned and overall price I would be in for 2 or possibly 3. (X-wing, Y-wing, A-wing)

Be sure to keep us posted. Thanks!

Re: x-wing flight suit run by Loanstar

Thanks for so much positive and substantiated feedback.

I see that this will be another mammoth project i started :lol
Am i afraid of it? :eek NO
Will i bring it to an accurate end? :cool YES of course
Will you help me with it? :thumbsup I´m sure

So let´s fasten seat belt plz and get ready to rumble!

Sorry but i don´t understood what you meant, (sometimes my English strikes) can you plz make me a draw/thumbsketch of it?

I used this patterns
http://echobaserebels.com/reference/xwingcostume/flightsuit.php

but had to change them a little, because they are, only in my opinion, not 100% accurate.
(I don´t want to insult the maker of the patterns, i´m very happy that he made these patterns and the honor goes to him. I just feel that they are a little to big, but thats only my 2 cents )

Yes your right, this is one of the changes i will do when i make the second prototype.

Dear GINO,

pm sent.

Jeff, thank you i will make these changes on the prototype 2 also.

also your cuff tabs are backwards...they should be pointing outward.
the back should have an "action back" or "racing back"

Alright, no. 3 on the changing list for prototype 2.
But what is a action or racing back??
Can you draw/thumbsketch me what you meant?

I made some pics outside without flash, i think it´s the right color
