X-Men First Class Movie Discussion

I saw it today with a bunch of friends. We all liked it, and thought they did a good job. Also the cameos were a nice touch. I found it a lot easier to understand the continuity changes because on the 28th of May I was at the MCM expo watching a panel with the writers of the film. They explained their reasoning behind the changes and were generally cool guys (Also they confirmed that the Deadpool script is completly finished, apparently it's 'awesome' and the studio are definatly putting it into production)

Agreed on riptide tho, he was pretty uninteresting.

In regards to training they make no real comment on how long they actually trained for, so could have been a week or a month who knows. The main premis of the film is the relationship between charles and erik.

sorry to say it man, but that's your opinion and it's my opinion that there is no worse actor than kevin bacon, so everyone's performance was over shadowed by kevin bacon's crappy acting in my eyes. actually, i thought they were all stretching their acting skills pretty thin xcept the kid that played charles....
but that's my opinion and i'm not into arguing about people's opinions on things like movies.
 
Saw at last night and thought they did a good job. I am not a big fan of any of the mutants they had in this film (from the comics) except Havoc, but I enjoyed it anyway. I hope they do more of them.:thumbsup

The thing about Charles and having him walk. Think of it this way. They are fantastical beings and Beast knows his stuff around the lab - though not always successful.

What do you consider worse?

Getting paralyzed from the waist down forever.

Or...

Getting paralyzed from the waist down, hopeful for a cure, thinking you've found one, regaining mobility for a while only to lose it again.

What do you think is the most mind crippling? Getting paralyzed is bad enough, but getting your hopes up and actually getting to walk again only to have it stripped away, is infinitely worse... and if you don't think it's such a big deal... then it's evident you haven't gone through something traumatic like that where you get to feel back on top only to get pulled down again... after a few of those... you try seeing whether that knife don't suddenly get very inviting.

I know people who speak regular when on the job and with their normal accent in their free time. I doubt very much she wouldn't have spent a lot of time with her dialect if she was to be working for CIA. After that... working as a scientist... there'd be no need to hide the accent. All the time during the movie she had something to prove, so would keep speaking the same way.

Completely plausible to me.

one of my colleages on a film im working on worked on the beast's makeup team. she said it was soo much fun to make and she loved the film, but she waitied till it came out to find out any story - she managed to avoid it on set etc.

my impression of first class so far is that i might enjoy it, even though i tend to avoid marvel stuff. been interesting to read this thread.

Just out of curiosity, why do you tend to avoid Marvel?
 
just dont float my boat. im more of a DC man, and marvel just dont grab me the same way.

Im not saying DC are better than marvel, cos thats a neverending argument that doesnt have a right or wrong answer.

just personally i dont really dig marvel characters etc.
 
I havnt seen it yet and wish I could check it out soon but correct me if im wrong.
In X-Men 1, Hank McCoy was seen in the background on a tv doing an interview not as beast. So if he had not become beast yet how is he Beast in the prequel?

In the prequel I belive Havoc is on the team. I'm not 100% sure but i've heard he is. Is he not suppose to be Scott Summers brother?

Do yourself a favor and don't sweat the details too much. As has been mentioned in other places in this thread, X-Men continuity changes frequently. :)
 
I have just spent 46 comments on facebook arguing the toss with non comic book readers about why theres continuity differences in the film. Non fanboys make me go abit loose when they start talkin like they know what there on about and havent picked up a comic in their life. After much debating about xavier walking again (even batman was brought into it) it was finally settled...

then I realised, I am a sad man who spent 46 posts bitching about a film.
