I had my doubts. That trailer erased said doubts. :eek

The last few shots were just WOW. And the "peace was never an option" AWESOME.

I thought it looked great, my only complaint is how they made Beast look. The shot of him in the plane looked horrible. Other than that I thought it was awesome

I really hope I'm wrong but that trailer did nothing for me.

The suits are yellow and blue, aren't they?

So, are they just picking and choosing what bits from the preceding films they're taking as canon? They use images from the previous films and what looks like the mansion, but then they show Nightcrawler and Emma Frost as being a part of the group. :confused

I'm not hating on the film, as I haven't seen it yet, but that seems odd.

Looks much better than I expected. Still not a fan of bringing in 'modern' era x-people for the 'first class' like Angel. But, whatever. I liked the allusion to Magneto destroying the nuclear sub (will it go there? I sure hope so) back in x-men lore. As much as the roster bugs me as a purist, I then think about how people are going retarded over the spiderman costume and I can chill out. It's not about the costume, or even necessarily the specific x-roster. X-men is about being feared and misunderstood and spiderman is about 'with great power...' etc. If they hit the right notes the costumes and the roster won't be able to keep the films down.

X-men can be not about the costumes - but Spider-man is all about it. The X-Men are known both in and out of costume - in fact, even in the comics (and I'm going by the Byrne era) they were hardly ever even in costume, but Spiderman is the whole blue-red and bug eyes. I don't think people would be too thrilled if they did a whole Spidey movie without him ever slipping on the spandex. His adventures are masked ones - whereas he x-men leap into action spandex or no spandex.

and thank you firespirite - I never thought of Wiki

Unless something else grabs me, I don't know that I'll be hitting this one in first run.
As the trailer started, with the text and the footage from previous films, did anyone else think it might be fan made?

It seems that the film makers consider Origins:Wolverine to be non-canon, thus Emma Frost can appear. I've heard the next Wolverine movie will also ignore the first one. I'm pretty sure First Class will also conflict with "The Last Stand"

Parenthetically, I really wish people would give the whole "canon" thing a rest. A good story is a good story, and if it conflicts with something that's come before, tough ****. Continuity can kiss my ass.

(does the word parenthetically even need to exist? It's a placeholder for parentheses... which take up way less space than the word and convey the meaning faster)

I didn't mean that Spidey shouldn't have to appear in costume, I meant that the costume doesn't need to adhere rigidly to the comics so much as everyone is crying about. It's blue and red, he has bug eyes, and there is a black spider on his chest. We know who it is.

Well, considering that some people can be drawn out of a story by glaring inconsistencies from what came before, I think it's a very valid argument that invalidates (for some people), what constitutes a "good" story. Failure to maintain the narrative, again, in my opinion, is shoddy storytelling and draws me completely out of the scene/story/what-have-you.

Let's not forget that these are all opinions. Yours is no better than mine and vice versa. What you are able to over look, I might care about. But that's our own prerogatives.
