X-Men 2 Carphone

To my knowledge none of the original phones have been sold anywhere, so dimensions are going to be an educated guess.
I'd say the hex screws are M2.

Definetly looks like milled pieces of aluminium, or someone did an amazing paint job on a resin cast.

It would help if we could find out which prop shop put this together for the film.

yeh the great google did little to help hunt down one of these phones or the guys who build it... Im sure someone on here at least knows who made it. The RPF knows Everything!:D

I checked X2 bonus dvd but it mostly shows the costumes and lots of Nightcrawler stuff, nothin on props that i recall

Just getting to grips with how to scale and draw this thing. the ellipse its based on is 132x68mm..which is too big, im gonna scale it down in a bit. I based the scale on M2.5 hex so i guess i'll try M2 :p... my iphone is 115x62mm, which seems to be pretty close to the images.. here's hoping Hugh Jackman has the same size hands as me:p

..Once i get approval and changes from ye of the overall shape i shall steam ahead with this

I tried to remove the maximum effect of perspective.
If we accept that the phone is symmetric, there is a slight shift in the shape and angles.

This is just my opinion.

Beware, the top of the phone in the middle is missing.
It's just a reconstructed image, maybe not the reality.

nice one Tee:)... i knew it was a bit wide and long, and this overlay shows just that. The middle section isnt far off actual size thankfully, when its filleted in 3D it should look much closer. I'll rescale again tpnight and see if we get any closer!

So the image is not from above, correct? As I'm seeing askewed details based on the overlay. With just the overlay, it looks pretty damn close to 1:1 scale, only slighly larger. I realize it's not meant to be that way, but it helps me gauge what the dimensions will finally be.

Now lets not get n-sync side tracker here:p

Thanks man.. im using Solidworks. Its only a sketch so far, no 3D modelling yet until we agree on the overall size:)

Been up to my eyes lately but managed to do a little bit.. still a bit off on the thickness at the top but getting there.. film stills really arent very helpful:p

Wow! I have zero computer skills, let alone able to manipulate shapes and lines to create stuff like this. Great job so far, Jay!

My question is, once finalized and agreed on a design, will these be CNC'd? As a small run? I've been toying with the idea of somehow keeping the inards hollow to include the hardware for a blue tooth or whatever I find to suit the need of a small communicator. I was even thinking about this to be inset the center:
A small smartphone (Dick Tracy sized) watch called " i'm "

i'm watch - Enjoy The Future - YouTube

Thanks man:)... been up at 5am working so i get home and just pass out:p But i plan on doing more over the wkend. The only this is the centre(rectagular section) is a bit of a mystery. I'm not sure how to approach it yet with such a lack of knowledge of what the opening mechanics are.... I shall give it a go:p

I think an initital 3D print would be a good option first to work out any kinks or dimensional flaws. We could pool some funds together and each buy a print to mess about with:)

That would be a damn awesome idea!!.. if the middle section slid up with the top part of the phone it could reveal a screen:D.... oww the potential!... i wanna work on it tonight lol
