Wtf Is This Abomination?!

Wow... I must be losing it... I dig that bio. Love the bones and as for "lazy"... they used a ton of parts from a Revell tank model kit (the specific one I don't remember but it runs about $49) for the beloved Celtic bio, so what's not "lazy" about that? I haven't heard anyone complaining that they got lazy on the Celtic... oh well, lazy or not, I guess I'm the only one who likes it...

im not so sure i like it. seems like some bio's have so much stuff on them and are getting too far away from the "iconic" shape that attracted me to them in the first place.

Model tank parts are pretty hard to identify unless you happen to build them on a daily basis. But a frikking drill bit that hasn't been altered in any way shape or form?!! I don't know about you, but when I see sci-fi props from the future I DON'T want to be able to identify them. I don't want to be reminded that a human here on earth made an alien weapon, spaceship or gadget!!! Convince me that it could very well be alien technology by making using household items, model parts or something from the mainboard of a computer in an unrecognizable mashup of parts!

Look at Star Wars and Star Trek props: did you know right off the bat that Geordi's visor was a headband?! Did you immediately know that the air intake on a Stormtrooper bucket was really an aerator from a tap faucet??!!

I wouldn't even give a **** if they had used a drill bit on good old "Abomination" POS Bio helmet - all they needed to do was cut holes in it and add some foamie bits...as long as it's not IMMEDIATELY identifiable frikkin drill bit. THAT is lasy ass, slap it on at the last minute ********. I get that you're short on time and budget, but holy sweet mother trucker, it's frikkin Hollywood where people like Stan Frikkin Winston created an endoskeleton!!!!

Yes I'm passionate about this because it's important that sci-fi props used in movies LOOK convincing...

I totally agree. Using the drill bit as a base shape maybe, but could have made it look nastier and not so easily identifiable by taking a grinder or a plasma cutter or something to it, and what another 5 min of an fx guys time?

But I think we are forgetting that this bio was only onscreen for a second or two, not long enough to really see it anyway. While certainly anything that is really seen on camera should have some work put into it, I can understand taking shortcuts with something that is only a flash on the screen.

to a degree but most of the small parts in a movie are generally written as bigger parts and cut down in final editing. and some parts in movies are edited down quite a bit solely because the "screen presence" wasn't all that great and that can be due largely to props, costumes and make-up not being up to par.

also it had enough of a part in the movie that a company like sideshow felt there was enough of a market to produce it

The biggest question of all that the seasons vets are asking: Why the funk would you PRODUCE a freaking Bio that had such little time on the screen (plus no one knows about, nor SHOULD they) when there are Bios from P2 that SHOULD be and DESERVE to be molded?!! Gort Bio anyone?! Or the P1 Stunt that didn't have the tri-laser or air hose assembly - oh wait a sec...GEORGE has that one already as do some awesomely lucky members here on the Lair!!!

Yes it's ****** and quickly thrown together...but that's all this slapped together piece of **** is...scrap metal made to look convincing from a distance AND for a brief few seconds.

Let me see them produce a Gort from the movie...THAT would be stunning man...

I think the bio has potential, but it could use some changing around too. For the second or two it's onscreen, okay...but for SideShow production they are trying to appeal to a mass crowd too and not just us Pred-Heads. While I agree that P2 bios like Gort, Boar, etc... would be great if sideshow would produce them, I think members here on the lair produce a high quality bio as well.

With George having the Stunt mold and Bryan having the P2 hero bio mold, are there any lost hunter bio molds still around?

I don't think Bryan has a real P2 Hero mold like George does with the P1. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the one he has is a rework off one of the many different guys who have the P2 stunt bios to turn it into a hero version, if I remember right.

I know it was Hez's I think. I'm not exactly sure, just posted what I know.

Other than the Sideshow Bio stands you can get better Bios here on the lair. I haven't seen 1 sideshow bio that blows any of the good lair member sculpts out of the water. In fact I see it as the other way around, maybe Sideshow should hire Gene and Hez to do their Bios (just to name 2 of the great artists)

Yeah I bought hez's hero and completely resculpted it... the lost hunters bios have all been covered from us here on the hunters lair.
George has the holy grail that is the p1, i got the p2 hero, gene has both boars and theres a ram there too... plus dont HCG own the rights to p2, hence the bio
and p2 disc? Sideshow will just throw out whatever bios they can get their hands on the molds as once it says predator on it they know their targeted audience will pay for it.
plus the title for this 1 "avp" is wrong it was in avpr.

Ram helmet, thats one of the lost hunter helmets that have been running around and is a screen used piece not a fan sculpt. Not to sure who all still have there's from old lair, I still have mine. We need the gort and boars, SIdeshow can find these....

Our Lair research has shown the original Gort and Boar bios were both sold in public auction many years ago. Trying to think, but if memory serves, Gort sold for like $2,000 and Boar went for like $5,000.

Not to say the Winston guys don't still have their original molds floating around somewhere in storage......

How freaking cool would it be to see the original molds still in storage somewhere?!

I always imagine screen used props that were sold at auctions to be placed in a glass case under a spotlight in some millionaires house - only to be seen by him and the few guests that are allowed inside.

How amazing would it be to have someone taking detailed pictures of the prop now in its current condition?!

One can only dream...

Sometimes it's like that. But other times you hear stories about people with original stormtrooper stored in a garbage bag in the garage, just because it isn't as important to them as all the other stuff in their collection.
