I know this is the replica movie costume forum, so if I posted in the wrong place please move

I was just wondering what every one was using for the uniform part of
their ODST outfits.
What is the norm, Black BDU's, standard camo, digital camo
black flight suits.
I am planning to get a ODST costume together and wanted to see
all that is needed under the armor as I will have the armor part covered.
But pictures of both are welcome

So please post your ODST pics here.

Thanks TK648

There are several versions of the ODST now, so you'll have to be a little more specific as to which version you're curious about. We're all probably assuming you mean the game version from Halo 3: ODST, but just to illustrate my point, the current variations of the ODST are as follows:

-Halo 2 game version
-"Landfall" Halo 3 short film live-action version (by Weta)
-Halo 3 game version
-High-Def Bungie pre-production 3D model sent to Legacy Effects
-"We are ODST" short film live-action version (by Legacy Effects)
-Halo 3: ODST game version
-and now the Halo Reach live action teaser version (variants of LE version)

All sport different looks and different possibilities for undersuits.

For the Halo 2 game version, you're probably looking at dark urban camo supplemented by additional dying with black dye to make it even darker.

For the Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST versions, there is so little of the bottom-most layer of the suit showing that you're best bet would probably be just some plain black pants and a black underarmor shirt. Perhaps bleaching them slightly to lighten them up so they aren't 100% black.

For the Landfall (Weta) version, you see a bit more of the undersuit, but not much more. But same deal as above, black pants (perhaps BDUs) with a black underarmor shirt. With the Weta version you can actually see the shirt is form-fitting around his arms in the armpit and elbow areas.

For the Legacy Effects "We are ODST" version, you're looking at two different versions: a dirty brown jumpsuit and a dirty OD green jumpsuit, both with removed collars.

For the new Legacy Effects Halo Reach teaser, it's woodland digital camo coveralls, specifically, and not a flightsuit. This one has the collar still attached (and righteously popped, I might add. lol). I have this on order, actually, so I can post pictures later when it arrives.

Here are some pics of the costumes I built, which are replicas of the Legacy Effects "We are ODST" short film. Note that in the bottom pic, each costume sports the different color flightsuit. Front trooper has the dirty OD green, and back trooper (me) sports the dirty brown.

Can do. My ODST is consistent with the Halo 3:ODST game version. The costume is vacuumformed in .080 HIPS, the helmet is cast in rotocast urethane. It's a kit I produce, you'll likely see some of these around at D*con this year with new parts and backpacks. Here are some pics from a recent build I did for/with my buddy Matt:

As for the undersuit for this the bare minimum you can get away with is a set of basic black cotton thermal underwear with a black cloth neckseal cut from the sleeve of a longsleeve T-shirt. There are additional details that ideally should be added overtop of this that I have patterned out and included with the instructions for the kit. Basically there are some applique's that can go on overtop of the thermals, you can check out some of patterns here: ODST Reference pictures by ScaryMonkey75 - Photobucket

And it's true I do make the kits for the ODST gloves:

I really love seeing the different approaches that we all have taken to the costume. It's going to be really cool to see different versions of the ODST around at conventions. Kudos to Mr. Bungle, Torsoboy and others that have added to the ODST costume lexicon. We are ODST!

Sean,

What "ODST" Buckles are you using? I need to get off my butt and get to work and those are something I will be needing... ;)

Great looking armor, everyone!

It's a mix between weta and the game.......

I cast my own buckles in urethane. They're not terribly functional, I've had one or two crack unexpectedly if they're under too much stress.

The absolute best ODST buckles I've seen are made by Hirgon at the 405th and WPE. I was lucky enough to get in on his original run in which the buckles were machined from stainless steel. I think he too is now casting his buckles in urethane. There's an ad in the classifieds @ 405th.

I have a set of the SS ones as well, There is a place in NY that could cast them
from die cast metal... and the only other way to make metal one's would
be to cast them from pewter they would be a bit heavy but would not break..
I believe that Silicones Inc. still has there free 1LB trial kits and there would be enough silicone there to make and cast your own buckles from your masters.
You would have to tell them you were going to cast pewter to get the right silicone kit. 336-886-5018

For something a bit oldschool...
This is my Halo 2 version ODST.

The undersuit is a set of Tru-Spec Subdued Urban Digital BDU's, and a non insulated balaclava.

wel the new Remember reach ODST uses multicam fatigues. Anything goes really. For me, I use those black CRYE type direct action top and bottoms.

Thats me on the right

Lots of great costumes in here. I wish the Reach marines weren't so dumpy :(

I have not seen any picture's of the reach marines.

But since Reach is the story of the war with the covent from the beginning
would be why the marines look so dumpy .
But then the noble team spartans seem to have better shield technology
then the master chief did in the first Halo game.
