I have been trying to get a stopmotion project off the ground for quite awhile.
Unfortunately it stalled when I uprooted and moved long distances twice, which meant starting over...twice.
It's always been on my mind and somewhat on the the backburner but would love to start up on it again after talking about it with a friend who said I would be nuts to let it die off.
I have one script written (Christmas themed) but won't be working on that one first.
I don't want to go into too much detail here, but it is about a boy and his pet ....... It blends a lot of influences, from King Kong, with the buddy dynamics of Wallace and Gromit, and "Han and Chewy", all mixed in with a little "Leave it To Beaver" and "Davey and Goliath" life lessons and "Calvin and Hobbes" imagination adventures.
I finally have the room for a small studio, and with dgital still cameras being the norm in the Stopmotion industry now, equipment that can shoot professional HD broadcast quality footage is well within reach.
I think my first epiode is going to be a "Space Odyssey" style adventure after watching 2001 again recently and getting reinspired.
So, what I am asking for is someone to design (and possibly build later on) their space ship. I am thinking something retro looking, with a cockpit designed with a lot of glass (for easy animation).
Initially I would need some production art done to put together a little presentation to shop around and put on a website in hopes of attracting some investors or interested parties to help out. I have all of the character designs done but would rather let someone else do the industrial designs as I am more of a cartoonist.
Of course there would be no initial payment (unless I get blessed and attract an angel) so you would get screen credit and a chance to show off your stuff.
Another thing to keep in mind is getting an animated project off the ground is extremely slow. My goal is to get a trailer done to shop around.
The style will be very cinemafic and movie like, yet stopmotion.
If this is something that interest you, let me know.
Thanks
