Worst Costumes and Props

Don't misunderstand me I adore the Logan's Run, I'm not a "new kid" but I understand your point.

I let pass even the city model that we see at the beginning... but the droid had always been a laugh to look at, since the first time I watched it. Those tubes on the arms are actually alluminium bendy pipes used for the kitchen exhaust fan.

Unfortunately for the Logan's Run, that film was dated even for the time it came out. Only a year later Star Wars was going to come out and blast away all this retro funky 70's sci-fi forever.

I don't know if it fits in the worst "prop" category but here is my entry:

JAWS 3 (I couldn't find a screengrab with the submarine model which was just as bad)

I don't know if it makes any difference but the movie WAS made in 3-D. I suspect this is why it's filmed in heavy matte. Of course it was a bad movie when it came out, the ONLY thing it had going for it was the fact that it was in 3-D. But now, it's just a really, REALLY bad movie! :lol

I Vote For Zardoz for worst costumes. The Film does have excellent prop work however. The Giant Stone head that vomits guns and Connery's Webley Revolver are sweet!

Worst prop for me had to be the Artist's Caddy that was used in ST:TNG.

I had one... all they did for the show was paint it "TNG beige" and slap stickers on it!

Got it off the Dick Blick art catalog! I mean... what did they do, steal it from the art department?

(Mine lasted me through college and beyond, moving to 5 houses, dorms, studios, [over 6,000 miles] before I had to throw it out due to plastic fatigue; Maye it's a Dr. Crusher family heirloom?)

I've been bemoaning the sorry state of sci-fi costumes for a few years now. And, much as it pains me, I may have to blame Star Wars.

Star Treks Voyager and Enterprise, the new Battlestar Galactica, Stargate SG1 -- the costumes kept getting plainer, until folks were just in ordinary military fatigues. What happened to those colorful disco outfits of the 1960s and '70s?

I think Star Wars happened. The costumes were still cool-looking at that point, but designed to not draw too much attention; to look more like "real" clothing, with natural colors and plain fabrics.

Now, I think the pendulum has swung too far in that direction. Just about all live-action sci-fi has costumes that look like they were pulled from the wardrobe department racks, or bought at the local mall. And nobody seems to be thinking about what clothing might look like when we have new technologies and materials that might replace things like buttons, zippers, sewn seams, and washing machines.

I don't really have an example of "worst". But right now, I feel like the best is behind us... and hope that there's better to come.

If we're gonna split hairs, he has two other sets of "chewing muscles" The lateral horns only pierce thru his temporalis muscles. His Masseter muscle and his pterygoid muscles also aid in chewing. Still he would be limited by how hard he chews. So if he got into a biting contest with , say, little Annie, Annie would certainly kick his sunburned hiney!!! LOL

Blame the former Mrs. Anderson if you don't like them. I myself find them not as silly as some of the things I have seen in real life. MC hammer pants, tube tops, gold le-may,<sp> jackets, michael jackson glove worn by "normal" people, neon mohawks, teeth grills, ear necklaces...etc.

Agreed. Other then the logo on his chest which in that picture looks ironed on and coming off, I always have liked both the show and that costume

It worked for me.

It worked for me as well. And I'm sure the suit was intentionally designed to look silly for the desired comic effect--you'll have incredible "super powers" while you're wearing it, but you're gonna look like a nutcase. And William Katt had the perfectly sarcastic delivery to pull it off.

Hey I'm loving the 70's grew up in them. It's just funny to see people sass the outfits when what they like in costumes is a horror show to me. I always thought the new Battlestar viper uniforms looked like Sauna suits. Give me the original outfits any day.

About a cyborg that is sent from the future to stop a scientific development, as two other cyborgs are sent to stop him. The Good cyborg's stun gun is a topper Multi-Pistol 09 without the barrel extension, and painted grips, http://wesclark.com/am/multi_pistol.jpg . The bad cyborg's lasers were unaltered REMCO Hamilton's Invaders Grenade Pistols. Sorry...but even at 7 years old, I thought the Power Droid looked cheesy. It just didn't move right. Whatever "X factor" makes things look cool, it had none.
