Worlds Largest STAR WARS Millennium Falcon Death Star Hangar Docking Bay 327 Build!

That sounds awesome! I'd love to see the final version when it is finished. (y)
It's on ice at the moment. The plans are finished, but my Falcon is sitting in storage in France, and I'm in London! I was REALLY pleased with the way the decking turned out. I think the original Death Star decking on the set was figured out beforehand and made, and then laid down around the static Falcon, after the Mos Eisley scenes had been shot and those walls disassembled. The elevator in the floor was part of the Stage at Elstree, and somebody clearly screwed up, as the tiles go slightly wrong around that area and aren't of a uniform size. It's also important to note that the set is forced perspective and meant to be seen from only one angle, so when you see the back of the Hangar looking out to space around the area of the Falcon's landing ramp, that's all "wrong" and actually stunted. If you look at McQuarrie's early paintings of the bay, it's actually much longer than the live action set is pretending to be.

That sounds fantastic! You have to take photos of everything when it is fully assembled. You are correct about the forced perspective in the hangar. I guess the budget was too much to handle so they had to cut corners anyway they knew how.
