Essentially the scenario is this: for his upcoming album mc chris is doing a mock movie poster similar to the old Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome art poster. Most of his albums have some sort of over-arching storyline and this one is loosely based on that post-apocalyptic genre. The idea is to dress up as if you were a character in this fictional universe, and if you make the cut you get drawn into the poster as a supporting character. There are around 8 different categories available, with a few being specific characters. One character is called War Racer X (kind of a riff on the old Speed Racer character or Frankenstein from Death Race) and the idea is the face has to be obscured. I picked up a cheap Skull mask that I was going to customize for Halloween but never finished, so I plan to use that as a base. The base color will be flat black, and it will have gold anodized detailing using lace as a stencil. This is a SUPER-rough early photoshop I worked up to help get my idea across and I could really use critiques. This lace design is just a gimp brush I used to see if the idea would work, though the actual pattern will be different. I'm totally open to suggestion even going as far as scrapping the lace stencil plan. Any help is appreciated!

Oh and I'm leaning heavily toward only using the lace stencil on one half of the mask, and having only the red X on the other.

This is the actual mask (pay no attention to the detailing, I was just dicking around with a paint pen one night):

I think the red "X" would pop much more if that entire side of the mask was black, except for the X

Thanks, if I keep with the lace stencil idea, I'm definitely going to only do the half without the X.
