Wolf mask, Completed !

Hats off to the sculptor, thrown tomatoes to the designer.
That thing looks more like a predator mutation, suffering from steroid overdose. Sometimes I just wish people would stop altering things for the sake of altering them....
Anyway, it probably is a stunt mask, since I would tend to think that the hero mask would have separately sculpted and molded mandibles which would be cast out of softer material than the rest of the head.
That's the way Scar was done, P2, and P1------so that the animatronic rig underneath could easily articulate the opening closing of said mandibles. The other thing that jumps out at you is the fact that the neck ring is sculpted directly into the piece (a no-no) because it doesn't allow for easy rotation of the head. None of the other preds were done that way, and neither is the one on the guy sitting there in the photo posted by Mr. Fett. Are you sure this an ADI sculpt, and not a bust?

Looks like a few folks have been hoarding pix----naughty, naughty----you'll get coal in your stockings for sure...

woooooooooooooooooooe

Big thanks Mr Fett and Mr Mander

I had/have decided to sculpt him with his mouth open, as looking at the sideshow figures , he looks kinda distorted with his mouth closed, looking more like PO from the teletubbies :p.
Also i figure you can see more of his scars and battledamage with his mush open. ( psst it also looks easier )

Looking at it again, im really not sure i can do this ( im not moaning BTW ) im just saying my reach has maybe extended past my grasp, this is afterall only my 3rd ever sculpt.

i will keep going though, even if he ends up looking nothing like Wolf hehe.

Don't underestimate the power of the Lee...you CAN do it and you WILL do it! Your first 2 turned out excellent...dont doubt or question yourself. Its only a matter of taking your time until YOU are satisfied.

Just don't ask him to make dreads Right Lee. Oh by the way, I was told by someone in the know that that sculpt is for a static statue like the huge display they made for the first AVP that was shown at Comic Con and is now in their showroom. This makes the most sense to me.

Thanks for the dred comment casey, cough*********cough

Well i gota say i prefer that sculpt, i am not a fan of the bigchin look. just have a urge to punch it

there some great pics, whats with the multicoloured bits on it?
I say you can do this bud, just take your time anbd get your forms down tight, everything else is just gravy

forms? wth are forms ( laughs nervously ) seriously tho? i have no idea about technical terms.

havent botherd with it for a few days as its scaring me :)

but today i ran out of other things to do

DOOOOOOOH ! ! !

so i did alittle on his forehead, getting the rough shapes sorted, this will no doubt change alot as you guys point stuff out.

I always prefer preds with the mouth closed, cause I think its a little more intimidating. you know he's thinking when he looks at you like that, not just getting ready to rip your head off.

but open is cool too, especially on Wolf. Good luck with the sculpt! I'm sure you'll have fun with it.

Well i WAS going to go with open mouth, but as im leavin that until last, ill see what happens, i may change to closed.

its way too early to tell at present. like i said before i just figured the open mouth showed of his battle damage more, and was easier.

***** just clocked you were member number 3 Lee lol , you nerd you must of found this site the day it was created as you were straight after faken and kit hunter no doubt , anyway I hope your getting on well. The start looks great , keep up the good work mate :) :D

Here's some reference for you as you undertake this sculpt. :)

Who the hell is that wearing the suit? I thought it was the same guy who played the pred in AVP that played the new pred. Is that a stuntman or did they decide to go with someone new?
