WIP: 1:1 Tom Welling Bust SMALLVILLE - Need input

Sorry for the lack of updates guys, it's been a hectic few weeks, which I'm sure hit the majority of us here.
Anyway, I'm still fine tuning the texture, but the end is close
I still need to buy a new camera since mine sucks right now. Heck my iphone is taking better pictures although I needed to get in close with this shot.

Anyway, once I finish the neck detailing, I'll have my sister-in-law take some better pictures with her professional camera.

But seriously man this is phenomenal work. I am a 3d sculptor but when you start to do texture like that the file starts to get really big. So I always have massive amounts of respect for those that can do this by hand because there is no ctrl-z in real life.

I know it is probably disrespectful to ask an artist his method, but how did you get that texture on the skin?

I am wanting to do a bust very soon, not sure who yet. But I was wondering how you get the texture? Which clay is best to use on a project that takes a while so that the clay doesn't crack after you wrap it?

and lastly, how do you keep the open spot for the eyes in there? after the clay dries, how do you get the real eyes in there?

and can I make out with this statue?...I mean great job.

Just ordered the mold materials and hopefully I can get started on the rubber by this weekend. I have more plans with this bust, so I can't wait to get casting.

I showed this to Tom Welling on set today. He was really unnerved by the resemblance, right down to the scar on his lip. He did think his face looked wide. He jokingly said "Tell him I'd rather it was season 1 Tom, not season 10" lol

That's how good Vash is. Ha!! Unnerved, now we know it's spot on. Can't wait to get this sucker. BTW, will this be cast in that flesh tone resin??

I think the wideness is because it doesn't have hair yet. When that is added it will automatically slim down the look of the face.

I did a really quick comp with the hair in photoshop and it does slim down the face a bit.

Thanks! I just hope the mold turns out well and that we can get someone to paint this up nicely.
I had a couple of minutes so I played around with photoshop again and gave it a bit of color and moved the hair down a bit.
