I remember it well - Jake Cardigan's TekWar gun from the miniseries is my prop holy grail!

I've only seen 1 good photo of the gun. I've never read anything about Syd Mead being involved.

The big gun, the one that folds up, was sold on ebay and the seller had no idea what it was for the first 5 days of the auction. I didn't either, but I knew it was pretty interesting looking and obviously a hero piece. I have the auction photos on my hard drive somewhere. I'll dig them up. They were very good.
You might be thinking of the Sid Mead gun used for Special Unit 2. I don't believe he designed the tekwar guns at all.

Wow! Any idea who bought this thing? Thanks for the pics!! I used to tape all these movies and freeze frame my VHS to draw pictures of the gun...when I had enough views I made my own out of cardboard...even remember using an action figure bubble to make the clear window and drawing the arrows like an LCD underneath! One of my favorite props...wonder how much was found?

Well Tek War started as a Marvel comic called TEK World with Bill Shatner drawn as the lead character. The actual design was very different from the gun used in the series. The comic design was more compact if I remember right. It folded more on to itself more and Jake carried it in a shoulder holster.If anyone has every read the comic may remember this and if one of you guy have any issue of in please feel free to post some pics here,Issue 1 have the best pics of the gun and the shoulder holster. Hope this helps

Actually, it started as a series of novels written BY William Shatner. The comic came after. I remember it was big "news" in the Sci-Fi world that Captain Kirk was writing novels. This was in the late-80's. 88-89 maybe? Turns out they were ghost written. I never read any of them, so I don't know if they were any good...

I was just doing some searches on RPF and came across this thread.
This are amazing peaces to have.
Both this full size version and the more compact version are the centerpieces of my non-Trek collection. Would love to know who made them and how I could restore the international workings.
