Just wondering, aa seems to shadow other prop makers as far as trek goes. is there hope that aa will make a mark x?

The problem with the Mark X is that as a Tricorder it does not have a simple lighting arrangement.
Doing the shell wouldnt be a problem but duplicating the lighting would be extremely difficult and very expensive so my guess would be no.
Youll notice AA likes to keep the electronics fairly simple and straightforward and the Mark X is a friggin Xmas tree

I hear ya!

I don't think they could do this cheap because of the electronics that go in those, just way to much!

Yeah, I had always hoped they would make one too. But as everyone said here the electronics would be a bit pricey. A Mark VI would be do-able though.

I wouldn't doubt what they can do. Remember back when we didn't believe that the communicator would have a metal grid or a spinning moire...

Personally, I hope that they would. It does not matter if the electronics are spot on or just simple blinkies & sound like the Playmates version. All I ever need would be the Tricorder body itself and later on, I can gut it and put in custom electronics.

I love to play with the Tricorders and putting a USD300 Master Replicas or a Roddenberry in your pocket everyday is not a nice thing. That is why I still go out for a Playmates Mk VII so that I can control my Star Trek urge by whipping it out every now and then on people who speak nonsense in front of me :lol, and say, "Strange. No intelligent lifeforms here."

I don't think that technology is the issue, as much as the lack of expected sales for TNG-era stuff. Maybe if the TNG figures stop being peg warmers and if the Enterprise-D does well they might add some TNG role-play items, otherwise, I wouldn't expect anything more than TOS-era from Diamond/AA.

I'm REALLY hoping for a Motion Picture tricorder! I know it's not a fan favorite but I still love that movie. (Even though I fall asleep on it EVERY time I watch it :lol)
I was born 3 weeks before TOS was canceled. I was no doubt in my Mother's lap while she was watching those precious last episodes. I grew up watching it on Saturday afternoons while living in L. A.

I used my finger nail clippers as a communicator on the playground in grade school (I was always Kirk and the monkey bars were an alien obstical course where my worth as a human was put to the test)

I heard that the movie was coming out and BEGGED my parents to take me, they wouldn't (It was either a movie ticket or a pack of cigarrettes, so I lost every time) My older brother promised to take me....I waited and waited and waited just to find out he'd gotten drunk and forgot.

I got to see it on HBO (At someones house) and sat glued to the 25 inch screen....Star Trek was BACK! I loved everyting about it, the new ship, the cool uniforms (Still one of my favorites) and the Props! The tricorder was awesome!

So yes, I really hope that AA/DST makes a TMP tricorder. Deep inside there is ten year old boy who needs one to go out scanning alien life forms! (I just LOVE scanning for life forms! "Life forms.....you prescious little life forms.....)

If they ever made a mark x or any Tricorder from TNG or later I would litterally buy them out and mod the hell outa them!!!
