Wilco Bladerunner pistol/blaster kit.

I recently picked up one of these kits, and like everything else I have go from wilco, for the price. I could not be happier. It was very nicely cast, with little clean up. and very nice quality, and detail. All the pictures I've seen of the kit only make the grips look way too light, but when my kit came, the grips where perfect in color. (maybe he changed his formula. ) They are that beautiful, rich, amber-ish color the all the pics of the real prop seem to show. :) (unfortunately, in my haste, and excitement, to work on the kit, I took a little too much off the bottom of the right grip, wall removing a tiny bit of flashing it had, and now there is a small gap, between the bottom of the grip, and the base of the grip frame. :( But that isn't Wilco's fault.)

I really look forward to finishing this kit. (even though, if it's like all the other kits I own, it will probably, be a very, very, long time before I do finish it. )

Anyway's, I have a few questions.

1. Does anyone know what kind (and/or size) screws I'm supposed to use on the grips? This kit doesn't include them, and I have know idea if I'm supposed to use, wood screws, "regular" screws, set screws, countersunk etc. If they should have flat heads, Philip heads, hex heads. etc. So, any info would be great. :)

2. Can someone give me some idea of the size of the real gun? This kit looks very nice at the size it is. However, in all the pictures I've seen of the real prop being held, it looks like it fights the holders hand much better then this one fits my hand. In most pics the real prop, and even most replicas, seem to be sized, where the figures fight nicely in the finger grooves on the grip, but my fingers are way to big to fight this kit that way. (then again, I'm 6' 3", 260 lbs, and have big hands with sausage fingers, so if my not be the gun that is miss sized. :lol)

Any other tips, tricks, info, etc. would be welcome.

Welcome to the Way of the Blaster! :cool

You can check out my archive of pics of the actual hero prop here.

And be sure to check out propsummit while you're over there... lots of great people and great info on the Blade Runner props! :)

I'm making the plastic Sidkit model at the moment. I haven't made a Wilco, so I don't know if this'll be relevent to you; but this page shows the screw sizes for the SidKit. It's not clear from the photo; but the ones in the first two columns all have hex heads.

instruction page 1

Hope this helps.

Well my kit is just a basic resin kit, it's not as fancy as sidkit's is, but those instructions are actually a lot of help. Thanks.

Yeah, the Wilco grip is really short. It's shorter than even the Hartford. I don't know what the hero pistol measures, but I can tell you it's shorter than any of the models I have, including Coyle.

OH, you need socket cap screws for the grips. I got mine at ace hardware, and I ended up buying a few different sizes to find the one that worked best.
