I pulled the plug on my thread because it was about BUILDING the kit.
I specifically asked people to keep it on topic and not to post hypothetical questions but that didn't seem to work.
There is a serious problem on the RPF, people are either very lazy or don't have the time to read an entire thread before posting.
I wanted a person to be able to open my thread and find it full of useful information
- Not hypothetical discussions about the parts of the kit.
- Or discussions about the type of finish that would be on a Service Gun issued to a Sgt of the Independent Army
- And as much as I loved seeing pictures of Dr McCoy's assembled Blasters they really didn't need to be in a thread about building one.
I'm sure if I hadn't pulled the thread we would have had 3 pages of "That looks great" posts and questions about the differences between the 3 versions which would have led to discussions about the ethics involved in making the kits, etc.
A stand alone "Comparison Thread" would have been a lot more beneficial to the forum.
I also really wasn't that fond of the "Where can I find a Brass Brush for my Dremel" posts. I think there was 5-8 posts to find a simple item that is sold at Lowes, Home Depot and about 100 web based retailers.
Now, even though I may seem like I got mad and took my toys home, I didn't.
Once my kit is finished I plan to post all of my information in a new thread in a single post.
This is both good and bad news.
Yes, I will post the info but now you might want to hold off on building your kit until I do, or else you might suffer the "Oh crap I wish I had waited syndrome"
